बिहार के जल संसाधनों पर पहला अधिकार बिहार की जनता का है। फरक्का जल संधि के नाम पर बिहार के हितों की अनदेखी अब और बर्दाश्त नहीं की जा सकती।
बक्सर के रास्ते गंगा में बिहार की ओर से लगभग 400 क्यूमेक पानी आता है, जबकि बांग्लादेश को 1,500 क्यूमेक पानी देने की व्यवस्था है। यानी शेष 1,100 क्यूमेक पानी बिहार की अन्य नदियों के योगदान से आता है।
एक तरफ बिहार के कई जिले बाढ़, कटाव और जल संकट से जूझते हैं, दूसरी तरफ हमारे जल संसाधनों पर दूसरे देश के साथ हुए समझौते का बोझ बिहार उठाता है।
दिसंबर 2026 में संधि की अवधि समाप्त हो रही है। हमारी मांग साफ है कि फरक्का जल संधि का नवीनीकरण नहीं हो। बिहार के हितों को ध्यान में रखकर नए सिरे से निर्णय हो।

Independent journalists are being widely praised for their coverage of the ongoing protests in Delhi. But what lies behind this carefully cultivated image of independence?
These journalists openly give protesters a platform, take their side during confrontations, and even obstruct police action. Their conduct during protests is there for everyone to see.
I decided to put some of these self-proclaimed independent journalists to the test. Using a fake email ID, I approached several of them with a proposal to create Instagram videos for the SP ahead of the 2027 UP elections.
What happened next? They responded with work samples and quoted their prices for producing political content. I’m sharing screenshots of the email replies I received from each of them as evidence.

The caliph Harun al-Rashid cried over his dying cousin, Ibrahim ibn Salih. His personal physician, Jibril ibn Bukhtishu, trained in the Greek tradition had given up.
Then the vizier Ja'far ibn Yahya spoke up. Jibril, he said, practices Greek medicine. But there is a man at this court just as learned in the doctrines of the Indians: Salih ibn Bahlah al-Hindi.
The Indian examined Ibrahim and felt his pulse. Then he did what no court physician does. He refused to give his verdict to anyone but the caliph and he staked his entire life on it.
If Ibrahim died, he declared, his slaves would be freed, his property given to the poor, his wives divorced.
That night, a letter arrived. Ibrahim was dead. Harun cursed the Indians and their medicine.
The next morning, the household had gathered to mourn. The body was perfumed, the shroud laid out. And Salih ibn Bahlah fought his way in, shouting that the Commander of the Faithful was about to bury his cousin alive.
Alone with the body and the caliph, he took a needle and pricked it between Ibrahim's left thumbnail and the flesh. The "corpse" pulled its hand away.
Salih ordered the burial perfume and shroud removed at once, so the man would not die of shock on waking.
Then he loaded a bellows with sneezewort and blew it up Ibrahim's nose. For a 6th of an hour, the court of the Abbasids stared at a dead man's face.
And then Ibrahim sneezed, sat up, and kissed the caliph's hand.
His first words? He had dreamed a dog bit his left thumb.
Ibrahim ibn Salih lived on. He married the caliph's own sister, and went on to govern Egypt and Palestine.
The story survives in Ibn Abi Usaybi'a's History of Physicians, a 13th-century Arabic chronicle, preserved through a chain of named witnesses going back to a translator of Harun's own court.
Read it as the chronicler's fact / as the court's favourite legend, either way, it tells us what Baghdad believed about Indian medicine: that in the greatest city on earth, an Indian's reading of a pulse could outweigh a death certificate.
P.S. Sneezewort (Achillea ptarmica) is a real medicinal plant whose powder induces violent sneezing, historically used to rouse the unconscious. And pulse diagnosis is the signature technique of the Indian medical tradition, the very tradition the Barmakid viziers of that court were paying to have translated from Sanskrit, in that very generation.

Our reporters @AshwineSingh, @SavyasachiAstha, and @anmolpritamND have been detained while covering the October 10 protest. Delhi Police have also seized Newslaundry’s official phones, which our reporters were using to carry out their reporting duties.
When the journalists identified themselves as media personnel, they were reportedly told, “Koi media nahin hai.”
Around 30 people have been put into a single bus, including protesters and journalists. Our reporters have identified Inspector Dhan Singh Malik as the officer who snatched the phones.
Journalists are there to report, not to protest. They were not obstructing police operations. On what grounds are they being detained and their phones seized?

Coming back to broadband coverage.
The areas that do not have adequate 4G and 5G coverage are Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, parts of Rajasthan that border Pakistan and which are sparsely populated, the Kutch region (also sparsely populated, what with the world's largest salt pans), Arunachal Pradesh, tracts that are either heavily forested or till recently had suffered from Naxal terrorism.
So, what exactly is your target market?
Offer satellite coverage in Arunachal Pradesh and China will cut off your businesses at the scrotum before you can say Tesla.
Or did you plan to make a killing selling satellite coverage at $50/month in Bihar and Jharkhand, where 4G and 5G plans cost $3/month?
