The fact that in under 20 days @RestoreBritain_ has reached 100,000+ members and is polling at 7% is historic and unprecedented 🥳 But where's the media coverage? There's no headlines for the fastest growing party in history. @BBC @SkyNews @ITVNews @Channel4News @DailyMail 🤷‍♂️

I don’t want a leader that apologises for the transatlantic slave trade. I want a leader that promotes the fact that Britain abolished the slave trade at great sacrifice whilst condemning the modern slave trade active throughout Africa and the Middle East.
🚨BREAKING: Andy Burnham has said he is open to Britain formally apologising for its role in the transatlantic slave trade He added, however, that he will not offer reparations

Trying to subvert democracy is utter madness, if the Polish people want out the EU – you need to get them out of the EU. From an outsider's perspective, this looks like treason.

When you remember that the classic STAR TREK SHOWS were able to crank out: STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES - 3 seasons, 79 episodes (1966–1969) STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION - 7 seasons, 178 episodes (1987–1994) STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE - 7 seasons, 176 episodes (1993–1999) STAR TREK: VOYAGER - 7 seasons, 172 episodes (1995–2001) STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE - 4 seasons, 98 episodes (2001–2005) A TOTAL OF 703 EPISODES ACROSS FIVE SERIES IN 39 YEARS (1966–2005)... ...the idea that MASSIVE STREAMERS like Netflix and Amazon can only produce 8-10 episodes of GARBAGE TV... ...followed by 2-3 year hiatuses... ...becomes even more pathetic, doesn't it?

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

As a Dutch person let me tell you it's way worse than it seems. The AVERAGE stress related absence is 250+ days. The AVERAGE burnout related absence is 300+ days. While on sick-leave, you can return to work for just 4 weeks and the 2 year period **resets**. Your employer is forced to assist you in this. They have to pay for doctors, experts, and so on. If they don't, you get an extra year's wages. While on sick-leave, you can work a second job. As long as this is outside business hours of the first job, or the work is different, your first employer still pays you 70%. Here's another cool one: you can go on holiday during sick-leave. The employer can force you to use your vacation days for that, but then they have to pay you 100% of your wages rather than 70% during that period. Simple solution: you just work with contractors right? No, because a contractor can just claim employee status after getting sick. Many such cases. All of this is obviously broken. If you say this you're met with half-baked "worker's rights" arguments, as you can see in this comment section.
European hiring rules are genuinely insane. For example - if you own a company in the Netherlands and one of your employees gets sick, you are required to pay at least 70% of their wages for up to 2 years. If they can't go back to work after 2 years and you haven't done enough for their reintegration, you pay their wages for 1 more year. And you can't fire them until after that extra year!

RIP Patrick Stewart. What an actor. I still can’t believe he agreed to do this scene. And he didn’t even mind when I ruined every take. Legend.

We'd just like to take this moment to honour Sir Patrick Stewart, who was instrumental to the media campaign which first enabled #MedicalCannabis to be legalised in the UK. Alongside the late great @Hannah_Deacon40 💔 True national heroes, we all owe them a debt of gratitude.

“The whole country is united for Ukraine… Britain will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes.” John Healey’s statement shows just how out of touch this government really is. We don’t want to continue committing billions upon billions of taxpayer money to foreign wars when we have several glaring problems here at home! This is the same man who quit as Defence Secretary try because of insufficient defence spending. Now like every Chancellor before him, Healey filches from our pockets to fill the coffers of a corrupt coke addict, failed comic, and blood money launderer. The West pursues war instead of peace and forces the innocent taxpayer to fund it. We’ve all had enough.

We warned that a social media ban would force digital ID and biometric scans just to go online. Now Ofcom has confirmed it. To prove you're over 16, Ofcom recommends methods like banking checks and facial age estimation. All of this invasive infrastructure - and they STILL admit "the risk of circumvention cannot be entirely eliminated, and some children will succeed in bypassing age checks". The death of online anonymity will come at the expense of a policy that doesn't even work.

I've never seen anything as cringe-worthy or just generally badly produced as @SachaBaronCohen's new #AliG revival. It's so bad, the first few minutes are a recap trying to convince you the man was once funny. Trainwreck, career killer. Calling it quits ten mins in 🤮

This is approximately what MedBud needs to reach for the most basic staffing requirements, as a non-profit. At the end of this month, we've had advertising banners live for a year, grossing approx. £40k after VAT as a result, with somewhere around a grand in donations beyond that. Sounds great right? Yet we need to reach £100k+ to afford staff hours and salary fairly, and more beyond that to do the best job we can. If it wasn't for so many of us being volunteers, or myself taking under minimum wage - we wouldn't survive whatsoever. We have a huge communications backlog right now. The best solution anyone has proposed in the short-term is hiring cheap foreign labour, and we refuse to do it – we feel we should fairly only contract UK nationals for UK jobs at MedBud. Especially in our industry, where we effectively end up being a dream employer for so many UK patients – it wouldn't be just. We will do far better in the coming year, we've had to hold back new advertising queries for a couple of months due to bandwidth/capacity issues (50+ queries) and are about to move forward again after hiring a new commercial manager on commission... ...but the big point is, this budget really really cripples small/family businesses and non-profits. It already cost far too much to hire, now even new teachers are only just above minimum wage (normally with student loans to consider too). We don't exist to make money, yet we're forced to in-order to maintain our operations – and maintain our pledge to always be a free service, that today so many thousands of patients/clinicians depend upon. MedBud doesn't typically ever do political posts outside of cannabis, but @JohnHealey_MP – please realise, you're just piling more and more financial pressure onto small organisations, and many simply won't survive.
Fun fact: A new business wishing to employ just three people on the minimum wage must somehow conjure up almost £100,000 a year once employer's National Insurance contributions are taken into account. Three employees. Almost a hundred grand. Utter bloody madness.
