"Everything we love is on the line" in the US election. I argue that President Trump has systematically undone the strategy that since the 19th century has made the US the world's leading country. He has eroded our sources of greatness.
So what's at stake isn't just affordability or data centers or the Iran war. It's America's future: nytimes.com/2026/10/24/opini…

Fans of all small-market baseball teams should watch every game of the #WorldSeries. Show the networks they don’t need NY and LA teams for good ratings. Plus, the Rays and Brewers both are fun teams that were built the right way.

Yes! Navi Pillay symbolizes respect for legal accountability for human rights abuses, for the rule of law -- those constraints that keep us free -- at a time when that structure and those values are under attack, particularly from the US.
In awarding this year’s #NobelPeacePrize, the Norwegian Nobel Committee wants to remind the world that the rule of law – national and international – underpins the system we have set up to ensure peace and resolve conflicts non-violently. Peace requires justice.
History has shown that a world operating without the rule of law is unjust, unwise and inhumane. The judges – those who guard the thin red line between order and chaos – are therefore highly deserving of our praise. But today, as these same judges are sanctioned, and their institutions are attacked, we need people of courage, vision and determination – qualities that 2026 peace laureate Navi Pillay demonstrates in her work on the bench.

Good follow-up story by @AlexBaumhardt. 2 Oregon state-backed rail projects cost more than $70 million. They’re still mostly idle. #ORpol #ORleg oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2…
Speaking of #DataCentres, this is an excellent essay by @NickKristof. We could learn much from Norway, and not just about IT.

I'm not an economist but 2 things stand out to me in this forecast: 1. It looks at Oregon economic trends through the most positive lens possible. 2. How can you blame the problems on Trump AND project improvement while he's still in office? #economy opb.org/article/2026/08/26/o…

Congrats to @lastmilehealth on winning the 2026 #HiltonPrize. I've seen Last Mile Health's work in rural Liberia, and it's a model of how community health workers inexpensively lift health outcomes.
Congratulations to @LastMileHealth, recipient of the 2026 #HiltonPrize! For nearly 20 years, the organization has helped bring life-saving healthcare to remote communities by strengthening the community health workforce. Learn more: hiltonfoundation.org/news/20…

Kotek's campaign strategy isn't surprising but it's disrespectful. Even voters who despise all things Trump, care about other things too - like the ability to make a living. She owes it to Oregonians to discuss more than Trump. Then voters can decide what matters more. #Elections
Oregon deserves a governor who will always stand up for our state. Together, we’ve proven we can take on Donald Trump and win. Christine Drazan has stood with him every step of the way.
This November, the choice is clear - because Oregon's values are on the ballot.

ALT A graphic with a blue background features Christine Drazan centered in front of the U.S. Capitol, with Donald Trump shown on the left. Large headline text reads: "TINA KOTEK IS STANDING UP TO MAGA EXTREMISTS." Below, a checklist highlights five actions: protecting Oregonians against federal overreach, blocking unlawful military deployments, defending Oregon's safe and secure elections, fighting back against federal SNAP cuts, and preserving reproductive rights. The design uses white and light blue text with blue check marks throughout.

Reactions to Prosperity Council report:
1. Shouldn't have taken a "council" to recommend this. It's basic stuff.
2. If Democrats can't accept this, they aren't willing to do what's needed for economic growth.
3. It still might not be enough. #economy
