SpikeOut: Battle Street is not on Xbox backwards compatibility currently. But Xbox says they plan to expand the Backwards Compatibility catalog. We have to do what we can to let @SEGA and @XBOX know that Battle Street is a game that deserves to be available on modern platforms.
So I ask that everyone spread the word. For those of you that have the means to do so play SpikeOut: Battle Street yourself. Emulate the game, or burn it to a disc to play on a modded console if you have to. Play it with your friends, set up Insignia so you can play Online with people. Challange people to see if they have what it takes to beat the Story mode without dropping down to easy.
This game deserves a second chance to be appreciated, and not end up as some obscure curiosity you can only play though Piracy, Emulation, or spending upwards of $200 to buy a rare physical copy, that is only officially playable on an OG Xbox.

This is supposed to be based on which game has the best difficulty settings... How you can put DMC1 and DMC3 in 7/10, and Revengeance in 10/10 is beyond me.
I understand the sentiment, but as a huge Ninja Gaiden fan. I can honestly say No, this series does not deserve more sales because in order to get sales you need to make consistent and quality choices for the consumer when selling your product. Ninja Gaiden as a Franchise has been Heavily mismanaged for the majority of it's existence. Lets take things from the start.
Early NG 2D was fine there was the OG Arcade game, the NES trilogy, and a bunch of other NG games on different platforms. That's all well and good, but what happened in the next Gen? People got SNES NG Trilogy, a repackaging of the NES games on the SNES in 1995, and that's it for that entire generation.
For 8 years Ryu Hayabusa was only a relevant character in the Gaming mainstream because he was in Dead Or Alive. There were no actual Ninja Gaiden games grom 1992- 2004 Luckily NG 2004 was a masterpiece so the series was able to return in a big way, hitting the ground running. But what happens after that? Ninja Gaiden II (360) doesn't get to be properly polished because the Dev Team got screwed out of their promise the bonuses for their prior work on DoA and they rightfully left.
Ninja Gaiden 2004 gets repackage twice with NG Black, and NG Sigma. NGII Gets Repackaged with Sigma 2. The new team in charge of the Franchise puts out Ninja Gaiden 3 vanilla which is half baked and it kills the positive reputation of the Franchise, only to repackge it with NG3 Razor's Edge the version of the game that should have released in the first place.
Then Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z is made by Spark Unlimited a dev team that's never made an melee action game before, so as much as they tried they didn't have the experience to make a game that meets the bar of quality that Ninja Gaiden is supposed to be at. Then the franchise goes on Ice for 7 years, and the NG Master Collection releases repackaging these games AGAIN. After that they release Ninja Gaiden II Black repackaging a game A-fucking-gain, and then they finally release Ragebound and NG4 after 11 years of no new games.
outside of Vanilla NG3 and Yaiba which have particularly bad receptions, I'm not even mentioning how all these variations of games were received by the community.
This is a SHIT way to run a franchise. It's no wonder people don't buy these games, the people who own this franchise don't know how to fucking sell these games, because they fucking over the guys who were doing the best job at selling them back in 2008.
Elite Gamers should to have 2 achievement sets to show off.
The first to be an impressive display of skill, and the 2nd just to fuck with people.
Replying to @Director_Bison @Moth_Lobster @mrjinjin2612 @Prep_Time_God @jdubintheflesh @arhumSearcher @AstralCometXX @IrregularBrgr
that's such a chernobyl achievement set, damn.
The combat being this way has nothing to do with the Date this game released, Witcher 3 released in 2015.
SpikeOut released in 1998, Bayonetta Released in 2009. Practically the entire peak of combat systems in video games released in these 10 years.
The main reason many games don't have better combat systems, is because it's not reasonable to be able to craft an impeccable combat experience while also being able to craft every other element in these games also strive to have. Games with a primary focus on Combat at their core need to be set up like straight to the point Arcade games.
If the games are made to be far longer like an RPG, it's gonna make the game worse in the long run if the Combat is focused on more then the other aspects of the game, there is a hard to pull off correctly balancing act for the types of games that want to have everything. Core gameplay, Length, and story.
The longer you make a game, the more tried the audience will become of the core gameplay by the end no matter how good it is, the more you focus on the core gameplay the less of a need there is to focus on the story, the more you focus on the story the more padding out the length of the game will detract from the pacing of the story.
Witcher 3 wanted to be at least a 50 hour game, and their are draw backs to trying to make a game that long, since a game that long can't recently be expected to properly refine every single battle that happens in it, especially if the player is given too much freedom in how they customize their character. A truly great combat system need to curate what the player can and can't do. If the player is given the choice of what they can do, they'll almost always choose the most effective strategy possible and rarely use anything else.
Shorter games can be balanced around forcing the player to develop different strategies for different encounters, but far Longer games can't reasonably managed to do that.
Here is a secret. Video games don't need to take so long to make. It's a completely manufactured problem caused by the diminishing returns of always trying to make graphics better. We've long since passed the point were people stopped caring about the game with "The Best Graphics" out side of Rockstar games.
There is nothing stopping the games industry from releasing games in a more timely manner if they just scaled down their production.
A game used to be able to turn a profit if it sold under 1 million. No reason that still can't be the case, but big publishers make every aspect of video game production too needlessly big, and have too many aspects in that production that don't need to exist making things take even longer. it's going to be the death of a lot of these companies because it's unsustainable.

I think the main reason is also because of how long it takes the to make games now, it’s actually cooked
If there was a way to put the money directly into the game developers bank accounts as a way to buy video games people would gladly do primarily over giving the money to publishers, middle men, or a 3rd party.
I just bought a copy of the SpikeOut: Battle Street on Ebay for a Ridiculous price, after having first pirated it, because I enjoyed playing the game that much.
I would have gladly purchase the digital copy of this game, but the game isn't sold in any official manner any more, the second hand market is the only way to get it, and it's estimated that there were only 3,600 copies of this game shipped to North America, so while I did buy it, doing so was unreasonable, and the money didn't even go to anyone involved in actually making this game. the closest thing I can do to supporting this game is buying one of the Yakuza / "Ryu Ga Gotoku" games that contain the Arcade Version of Spikeout, but that's not buying SpikeOut: Battle Street.
If I want to get more people to play SpikeOut: Battle Street what do you suppose I do? There are only so many copies for too great a price. I'd be more then glad if this game got a re-release so more people could play it and I would support that, but this game is so obscure and forgotten I have doubts it'll happen.
So the only choices for people is paying hundreds of dollars for an out of print game, or Piracy I don't blame the pirate in this scenario.

それとも、海賊版をプレイしてる人たちは全員、正規版が出たら買い直しているのかな?わざわざ?

"NG3 Vanilla was not as bad as people pictured it"
I have to disagree with that, some time ago I ended up playing Vanilla NG3 out of curiosity, and it was worse then I imagined.
The following were my raw thoughts which I wrote about the experience. dated February, 16, 2025
To preface this was Vanilla NG3 on RPCS3, with no DLC so it was the game as it launched in 2012.
---
After 13 years. My sick curiosity finally got the better of me. I played Vanilla Ninja Gaiden 3
I make no exaggeration when I say this is one of the worst video game products I've ever seen in my life. Anyone who takes any issue with Razors Edge? You have no idea just how good you have it with that game, that is an actual video game.
Sure, there are worse things out there than NG3 on an objective level, but there is typically an Explanation of some kind a reason they exist in the manner they do. Sonic 06 had its dev team cut in half twice, on top of that had it's production rushed. Super Man 64 had its production straight up sabotaged so it didn't even get the chance to be a better game. Some games don't get the Resources they need to reach greater potential, other games are just scams or cash grabs and aren't worth even being given a second thought.
But Ninja Gaiden 3? This game was not a mistake, everything that went into making this was purposeful, and Calculated. They genuinely thought that making this game the way it is, was the right move. This game shows a complete and utter lack of any respect for its audience.
NG3 commits the worst gaming sin possible, it's not bad, it's boring. Every single fight in this game is the same thing, you combo and kill some enemies, it doesn't matter how as it Barely matters what you do, the game practically plays itself, that is at least until it starts "Literally" playing itself.
You kill enemies until your arm glows, you hold Y to UT and automatically kill a set number of enemies regardless of their Position, OR you kill enemies until you have a full meter, and you use Ninpo to kill a bunch of enemies automatically. Want to save your Ninpo for a Specific part of a level? You can't. It drains after every encounter, sometimes it drains in the middle of an encounter for no reason other than they don't want you to have full Ninpo at that point. You are not allowed to formulate Tactics. So If you don't want to waste anything, you have to use Ninpo or a UT Immediately every time you get a chance, the Alternative is continuing to partake in the boring combat. This game also has no progression system, so there is no benefit to unnecessary combat, it's just there to waste your time.
The story of NG3 is the least of its problems, at least when the cutscenes are going on you get to not play this game. The most fun part of playing NG3 is realizing the way forward isn't blocked, and I could just run away from a fight.
You want to know what the best aspects of NG3 that aren't in Razors Edge I could come up with, I've got a few points.
The opening shot of the game is actual genuinely good, as it starts though the eyes of Theodore, undoing the Grip of Murder on Ryu. With the context of how the story goes, that actually nice in terms of Narrative.
The first time you ever use Ninpo, Art of the True Inferno, the one where Ryu turns into a Dragon and eats people, The rest of the enemies in that encounter just give up Immediately, that's just funny and realistic.
The game has the Decency to give you bullet time every time you fire the bow, so at least dealing with airborne and ranged enemies isn't more annoying then it has to be.
There is a pitch black cave on day 3 gets lit up by the Bioluminescent blood of the bug enemies. Those bugs are the only enemy in the game where killing them benefits the player.
The lack of a health bars during the bosses really help highlight just how Hilariously stupid the T-Rex boss actually is.
And that's it that's all I've got in terms of Positives.
Ninja Gaiden 3 gives no Agency to the player, they are not allowed to make any meaningful decisions, you have to follow the exact path the developers set for you. This game was intended to Appeal to a western Audience, and if this is what they thought the west would eat up? it's insulting to our Intelligence. The kind of people who could be entertained by this game are the kind of people who'd be entertained by linearly anything with flashing effects. This game is the Embodiment of everything wrong with the 7th generation of consoles. Taking a well respected franchise, and reducing everything that made it Unique and enjoyable in a fruitless effort to appeal to an audience that doesn't exist.
Ninja Gaiden 3 Vanilla was not as bad as people pictured it, but people are not ready for this topic...
By the way, QTEs during the fights are not just a simple QTE, it's the old Steel on Bone Tech of Ninja Gaiden 3 Vanilla, (a little similar to Kasumi Steel on Bone on NG3RE), basically it's a tech of the game that starts when an enemy is low HP or with a proper setup.
In NG3RE Team Ninja reworked this tech and they transformed it into a classic counter for the grabs 😅
I personally prefer the old Steel on Bone system of NG3 Vanilla, it was kind particular and unique, in fact I love playing with Kasumi in NG3RE ^^
People understandably heavily criticized Umbrella Corps as a game, but the actual story to that game is in essence HUNK behind the scenes setting up an entire mercenary program with the end goal of it finding and training his successor though natural selection.
Replying to @RagingRaygun @Photoshop_Gy
I just want HUNK in more mainline non-dlc resident evil entries or stories. But yeah, ideally HUNK would just die of old age retired in late RE stories, meanwhile his clones do his job for him forever type beat lol
Team Ninja were no strangers to being inspired western culture, so the Sam Fisher resemblance of the Tac Ninjas is likely Intentional.
Another point of Western inspiration in Ninja Gaiden is the Red Muffler costume from NG Black. Evidence in the Code refers to it as "Comic" meaning it's a Spawn reference. Highlighted by the fact it usually has Red eyes, until Ryu is cursed, then the eyes go Green, and it's the only costume in which this is the case.
I'm also willing to bet that Rachel is inspired by Taarna from Heavy Metal.
Neo Contra's intro is pure Japanese FMV Kino.
Ha ha! I found the 360's my family has had in storage. We bought like 3 back in the day, one for me and my two brothers pretty much.
Now I can take one of these 360's that has been sitting unused for over a decade and I can mod it, and once I trouble shoot how modding a 360 works I can then mod my nephews 360.
We've got to do what we can to set the younger generation on the right path and wean them off shit like Fortnite scamming them of all their money for V Bucks. They should be playing great video games like Ninja Gaiden. Itagaki's legacy needs to be witnessed by future generations.
No games!? kids today and their constant need for an endless out put of content.
Have you actually played Every Sonic game? 99.9% of people haven't. I'd recommend complaining about the lack of games in your franchise after you've actually tried playing them all, and even then if you add Fan content to the mix there is an endless supply of Sonic to play.
If you don't have a decent enough PC, or whatever other means necessary to play a Sonic game, then start saving whatever money you reasonably can, you'll eventually be able to make the investment, and you'll no longer be limited in what you can or can't play.
In general I went all in on PC gaming in 2014, and I've never had a lack of games to play since, be it Sonic or otherwise.
This video is Pariah695's "Aka the best Sonic YouTube channel." video on the best way to play every Sonic game.

"Computer load up Legendary Black Falcon please"
"Give me a print out of Unmasked Ryu Smiling"
"Now Spirit of the Fighter I can get into"
"Is there anyway to generate a Nude Ryu?"

Raul Juila's performance as Bison in Street Fighter the Movie was for his children, and much like his performance as Gomez Addams his ability to bring these characters to life on screen entertained countless children all over the world.
His legacy is one that brings joy to those with the heart to appreciate the absurd, and extraordinary, treated with sincerity, and I'm sure he'd be proud of that.
One of the best parts of Yaiba is the Yin Yang element of his narrative.
Despite everything Wrong Yaiba has done in his life, and how irredeemable he clearly is. Ryu still says "I know there is good in you Yaiba" and Ryu isn't wrong about that, as Yaiba is the true Yin to Ryu's Yang.
Yaiba is a Drunkard, Selfish, and an absolute disgrace of everything the Ninja way should stand for.
But Yaiba still manages to form a bond with Miss Monday, he still saves Ryu, and Momiji in a round about way. Not because he intends to, but because he still has enough Integrity not to be a tool taken advantage of, and he's still the one that stops Del Gonzo.
Yaiba is truly Yin, but Yin is the strongest when it contains Yang.
