The passing of Dean David Mwenje Mureithi, the long-serving Dean of Students at Moi University, is truly felt. More than anyone else, Dean Mureithi was a true friend and mentor to many students, especially the political types like some of us. In late 2012, he recommended me to @kwakia for an exchange program in the 🇺🇸, opening my eyes to the world. This wasn’t just out of love, but tough love. When I asked him years later why he’d picked me, he told me it was because I had “eaten” the least — which was actually the truth! Enziu bridge that crosses Enziu River in Mwingi Central, Kitui County is known as a killer bridge. On Dec. 4, 2021, a tragic accident at the bridge claimed between 33 lives (including 11 members from a single family) when a bus carrying St. Cecilia/St. Joseph Seminary choir members and wedding guests plunged into the swollen river.
Good news! A new bridge that will now make crossing safer is about to be completed. The construction is being managed by Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), with backing and funding from the national government.
