🌪️ ANOTHER tornado in New Mexico!
This landspout tornado was spotted south of Animas in the bootheel Tuesday afternoon.
If confirmed, this would be only the 3rd documented tornado in Hidalgo Co. since 1950 & the first ever recorded in Oct.

Half way there as @Ginger_Zee obviously aware of the "warm overnight lows" but then misstates that NOAA confirmed July 2026 was the "hottest month on record"
No where does NOAA use the word "hottest"
July 2026 was the "6th hottest" month on record.

The monarch migration is about to begin.
Along the way, they depend on native flowering plants to rest and refuel. Planting native wildflowers and milkweed in your yard or in your community is one simple way to help these remarkable travelers complete their journey.

Here's an example how the media shapes our beliefs. For the last two years, I've been hearing endlessly about how "climate change" has led to a huge increase in wildfires. And with the recent fires in Europe, it's been deafening.
Here's the truth. Last two years … lowest.

THE GULF: Let’s have a quick discussion this morning about “the Gulf”.
Earlier this morning, I posted the tropical weather outlook from the National Hurricane Center, which referred to the “Gulf of America”.
I immediately received some nasty messages from people calling me everything from some type of “phobe” to a “racist”.
Last season I made the mistake of calling it the “Gulf of Mexico”, and was quick called a “libtard” and “communist”.
In an ocean of mindless intolerant political extremists that are not capable of critical thinking, they are always looking for a reason to attack someone, I guess this isn’t surprising.
In early 2025, the U.S. government directed federal agencies to use “Gulf of America” in certain official U.S. contexts, and some U.S.-based maps and documents adopted that terminology. It is used by all National Weather Service agencies.
However, many countries, international organizations, publishers, and maps continue to use “Gulf of Mexico”, which has been the standard name for centuries.
I do my best to simply say “the Gulf”. No doubt I will slip up and make the mistake of saying “Gulf of Mexico” or “Gulf of America” at times this hurricane season. I am asking that you have a little grace here. I don’t do politics here… I’m sorry. I am just a weather guy passing along information, sometimes very important.
Thank you.

Drone video reveals extreme forest destruction in Franklin County southeast of Roxie, Mississippi after a significant tornado tore through the area last night. A Tornado Emergency was in effect at the time, and you can see just how intense it was in this area. I estimate the damage path was nearly a mile wide here…

BREAKING: We can confirm that a meteor exploded over Houston just before 4:40 p.m. Central time.
The GOES East geostationary lightning mapper picked up the infrared flash that accompanied the explosion. A boom was heard across the northern/northwestern Houston metro. There are unconfirmed reports of a meteorite crashing through a woman's home.
The American Meteor Society has reviewed dozens of eyewitness reports, and calculated the most likely path of the meteor. It probably entered the atmosphere somewhere near Magnolia and continued descending toward Monroe, at some point exploding in the process.
The Brenham, Texas fire department was dispatched to reports of a possible explosion near Highway 50 at Wiedeville Rd. Units on scene did not find evidence of an explosion.
