So who would have thought it? I mean, apart from everyone, obviously.
The ODESSI trial is finally published. The headline findings are: The odds of being admitted to hospital for severe mental illness was three times less for those who had Open Dialogue compared to standard care, reducing the use of hospital by 54%. The chance of being referred to a crisis service was halved for those who had Open Dialogue compared to standard care. Patient-defined recovery (people's rating of their own relationships, work, study and other self-rated markers of recovery) improved for those who had Open Dialogue compared to standard care. There was no statistically significant difference in the time it took to relapse in the Open Dialogue arm of the trial compared with standard care. Overall quality of life was improved for those who had Open Dialogue compared to standard care. Patient experience & rating of the care they received was higher for those who had Open Dialogue compared to standard care. Taken from RCPsych reporting (link below) Link to BBC article also below. Congrats to Profs Razzaque and Pilling

As a @thetimes reader I now always open Sunday breakfast by looking for articles by @CharlotteIvers. As for eating octopus, I watched from a terrace bar as a fisherman on Mykonos beat an octopus to death on concrete. 'To make it tender' advised the barman. Not for me thanks.

Most evenings @AmyGarciauk sits in the corner of our sitting room bringing us up to date on local news. With @Hudsonweather on the weather it’s like having well informed friends drop round. I understand Amy has been subject to some sartorial criticism. Envy, methinks.

I find Amandaland unwatchable, despite the talent of the actors. I thought it was just me, but I find once more I am in agreement with the estimable @CharlotteIvers. It just makes me/us squirm.

I am trying to make up my mind. Is @wesstreeting thinking of the prosperity of our nation or something rather more personal?

The Luftwaffe promised Hitler they would defeat Britain from the air. They couldn’t. The RAF and USAAF tried and failed to defeat Germany from the air. The USAF dropped more tonnage of bombs on Vietnam than the whole of WW2, without defeating the VC. Just an observation.

Very disappointing @BBCLookNorth. @AmyGarciauk valiantly trying to present a local police publicity puff as ‘news’. We were told young drivers have more accidents, and shown a bunch of very bored students being lectured by an officer to back this up. Was there nowt newsworthy?

Nobody who recalls the reaction to the Eliza programme which, despite merely reflecting in a quasi Rogerian fashion, was frequently ‘consulted’ by Uni members, will be surprised by the popularity of ChatGPT and its like for obtaining advice and ‘therapy’

And only somebody without a soul could not feel very happy for Grimsby…
In terms of the old football lag who loves to suggest that modern pampered players can't achieve under certain conditions, it actually *is* a wet Wednesday in Grimsby.

An article by @CharlotteIvers in the @thetimes approved of the @HouseofLords008. This echoed my 1967 exam answer in the GCE AO level British Constitution, but she expressed it better. Still, I was ahead of my time.

It is depressing to come across crass ignorance. A jury of his peers decided no criminal offence had occurred.
It is astonishing that Labour councillor Ricky Jones, who was caught on video calling for throats to be slit, is let off scot free - whereas Lucy Connolly got 31 months prison for posting something no worse. The development of two tier justice is becoming increasingly alarming. It cannot have been a question of uncertain evidence as Jones was on video clearly calling for violence. The government must come forward with plans to ensure justice is handed out equally, regardless of the background or views of the perpetrator - but as far as I can see this Labour government seems to be quite happy with two tier justice.

This kind of stuff infests my feeds of FB and X. I don’t know how people make money from fake pleas from Wallace & Gromit or indeed Martin but it is like wading through a pile of rubbish to pick up stuff you want
Just seen this utter baloney of a headline in a clickbait piece "Martin Lewis issues a 9pm warning to households who use washing machines" 1. I haven't spoken about this for prob 18mths 2. When I did my point was "don't believe the myth that you pay more in the evening" only those on eco 7 or specific time of use tariffs have variable pricing. Most people pay the same rate at all times of day.

#bradfordcityofculture is open! It’s minus a lot of degrees in the city of my birth but the Yorkshire folk are out in their thousands for the opening. Congratulations.
