ALT Richard Angell, Chief Executive at Terrence Higgins Trust, said: "We campaigned for this highly effective A&E testing for HIV and hepatitis being extended to Birmingham to turbo charge the city's endeavour to end new HIV cases by 2030. This innovation is another way to find those with undiagnosed HIV and hepatitis and get them the best medicine in the world. It will transform care for those attending Emergency Departments – too often their undiagnosed HIV or hepatitis is not spotted. From September this cohort can have the cause, not just the symptoms, treated. If you think you need an HIV test or a sexual health screen do not go to A&E, please contact Birmingham's sexual health provider, Umbrella. It is always best to know your status and testing is free, easy and confidential."
