He is being held on remand (tutuklu), meaning he has not been convicted, at Maltepe No. 3 L-Type Closed Prison in Istanbul. The prison is on the Asian side, approximately 19 miles from the city center, and about 1.5 hr drive from his house, depending on traffic.
