just saw a review paper state that a certain strain of Bacillus can reduce CO2 by 97%, which I found dubious. turns out, in the original paper, its when isolated carbonic anhydrase is mixed in a sterile soil microcosm then its 97%. so just a few meaningful caveats on that one

I'm doing some research/writing about nitrogen fixation and fertiliser right now and I just gave a large cackle when I realised I might be able to shoehorn in a reference to the medieval three field system

Our lab works on natural overlapping genes (go.nature.com/3VyZtWH), but what if you want to use the @harriswangnyc lab's #computational method (bit.ly/3CvkqJw)to create new overlapped #genes? @DominicLogel & I made a book chapter to help! bit.ly/3yKZ9KN (1/6)

Preprint! We tried to understand the role of IbpAB small heat shock proteins during #phage PhiX174 #infection. Surprisingly, not much! Project started by @Vawkstar and @BowelCa, and tenaciously finished by @han_zh and @DominicLogel So what is going on? biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… 1/5

I had incredibly detailed dreams about working out the best method for gel extractions last night. In unrelated news I'm doing a gel extraction today for the first time in ~6 years in 10 minutes

(A deepmind subtweet) Yes I'm sure all bacteriophage proteins are incredibly dangerous and vulnerable to bad actors
I discovered you can read images into ggplot2 and I had a little fun to test it out. The image was chosen for the meme only
