Another take-away from @nhannahjones's piece...if you, consciously or unconsciously, think "the smart kids will always be okay," you're wrong. The smart kids need attention and good instruction too.

New Mexico just gave every K-12 student access to 50,000+ books — for free. Our new partnership with Rally Reader means kids statewide can pick a book they love, practice reading out loud, and get instant feedback. Registration is open now for the 2026/2027 school year. Link in the first comment.

🎉 📚 GREAT NEWS ➗ 🎉
Senate Bill 37: High-Quality Literacy Instruction Act, and Senate Bill 29: Math Requirements for Teaching License, have officially passed the New Mexico Legislature and are headed to the Governor’s desk.

Senate Bill 37 passed the NM Senate unanimously—now it needs YOUR help to cross the finish line. The bill is on the schedule in the House today.
This bill ensures schools use proven reading instruction based on the science of reading. It screens kids K-3 for reading struggles and requires that parents get a progress report within 30 days if their child needs additional help.
Structured literacy works for every child—English learners, Native speakers, all kids.
Less than a week left in session. Call your legislators TODAY and ask them to support SB 37. Link to find your legislators in the first comment.
Our kids are counting on us. 📚

It has been the honor of my life to be your Mayor. Together, we have built a legacy of success of which I am intensely proud.
With a grateful heart, I am announcing that I will not seek a fourth term.
For the next 12 months, let's run through the tape and keep winning for DC.

High-impact tutoring has become one of the most effective, yet misunderstood, strategies in education today.
50CAN's Liz Cohen sat down with @CollegeBoard president Jeremy Singer for a live conversation on The Education Equation, where they explored what makes tutoring actually work and how leaders can implement tutoring as a permanent strategy for accelerating learning.
