While I do have a bunch of #Riftbound QOTDs queued up, I always love having more questions. If you have any questions that you want to be featured in a QOTD, please send them my way by DMing me!

#RiftboundQOTD: My <<Blossoming Dreamroot>> has become a unit gear via <<Lady of Clockwork>>. My <<Lulu Whimsical>> (assume this is a prerift) moves and from her trigger, I target Blossoming. How much Might does Blossoming have now?

#RiftboundQOTD: 2v2 madness. My team is at 10 points (1 away from win), my ally controls 2 battlefields, and the 3rd battlefield is open. On enemy's turn, their unit attacks my ally's battlefield. On my Focus, I play <<Ride the Wind>> to move one of my units from base to the open (3rd) battlefield. Assuming no further cards are played and both showdowns finish, do we win or do all 3 battlefields need to be scored at my enemy's turn?

I made a slight typo that the enemy unit moved to the open battlefield. Nonetheless, let’s assume the enemy lost that showdown and your ally retains control. A: No. You can only get the final point during your turn or your ally’s turn (491.8.g.1.). This is a new update!

#RiftboundQOTD: 1) My enemy deals lethal damage to my <<Mordekaiser Twice Slain>> and another friendly unit with a spell. Can I save Mordekaiser by killing that friendly unit? 2) Let's say my Mordekaiser was the only target of the spell. If I killed another friendly unit to save Mordekaiser, can my enemy still play <<Immortal Phoenix>> from the trash?

HAPPY RADIANCE RELEASE DAY! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE'S PULLS! #RiftboundQOTD: I have a <<K'Sante Dauntless>> at <<Fortified Position>>. My enemy attacks K'Sante. During the combat showdown, I play <<Ntofo Strikes>> and I target K'Sante. What is the maximum amount of damage I can deal to the enemy unit?

A: Mostly everyone got this one! This was testing the timing of defend triggers before Action spells.
Replying to @Doowan_
Spell Damage: 8, Combat Damage: 12. Total 20. Ksante shield(+1) + FP(+2) + Dauntless(x2=+3) for Shield 6 after defender designation applied. Ntofo action speed misses dauntless doubling so only +2 shield, meaning Ntofo would deal 8 dmg and put KSante to 12 might.

#RiftboundQOTD: It's Throwback Thursday! I attack a battlefield with <<Rek'sai Swarm Queen>> and trigger her ability. I reveal an <<Atakhan>> and opt to play it. As I am finalizing <<Atakhan>>, I want to kill Rek'sai as part of the additional cost and also play it to the battlefield where Rek'sai is attacking. Is this legal? Why?

A: More specifically is (420.3.b.2.). "here" from Rek'sai is now checked (and stored) during finalization. It is a new rule! You may remember me asking a similar question in the LA RQ intermission segments and that the answer was "No". Not anymore! xitter.cf/RAAAAAAAAATH/status/21…
Replying to @Doowan_
Let me tell you something person constantly asking Rath rules questions! This one is tricky, but the answer is yes. Rek'sai's ability reveals Atakhan, and says you can play him to this battlefield. Choosing where to play Atakhan occurs before you pay costs, therefore you can play Atakhan to that battlefield even though Atakhan sends Rek'sai to Jesus.

My submission! This touches on something very dear to my heart both as a player and a judge - player intention. It is without a reasonable doubt the intention of Neo to show off the gear, and there is no reason to not do that in general. That being said, 1/x

#RiftboundQOTD: Policy Wednesday Neo controls a Gold token and a 1[M] Recruit. During Andrew's turn, Neo plays <<Battle Preparation>>, targeting his Recruit. Andrew thinks for a bit and decides to let it resolve. Neo puts the spell into the Trash and readies two runes. A confused Andrew asks "You didn't show off a gear?". Neo then points to the very visible Gold token. Andrew calls a judge. As the judge, what are you doing and what is the remedy? (Credit: @barczeek)

#RiftboundQOTD: My <<Angler Wyrm>> is at a battlefield. I activate Angler and choose my enemy. 1) If my <<Gravity Field>> is deployed at Angler's battlefield, can my enemy refuse to move their unit? 2) My enemy responds to Angler with <<Hunker Down>> and targets one of their units. When Angler resolves, can they pick that unit?

A: 1) Yes. Gravity Field is an applied cost for a move caused by the opponent, and Angler Wyrm is an instruction that puts the onus on the opponent to move their unit. Unless the 1E1P are floating resources, the game will never force you to tap runes to pay for an applied cost that you are responsible for (204.4.c.). 2) Unknown. There are 2 sides to this argument: A] opponent can PICK any of their units and the instruction is DAMAYC (055., 141.1.a.3.) or B] "they MUST move", meaning the instruction must complete to the best extent possible (355.10.f.). I think both sides are quite 50/50 and it's impossible to discern what the intent is. If I had to bet, I would go with B] but this is a "ask your HJ" sort of question.

#RiftboundQOTD: I want to play <<Commander Ledros>> by killing 1 unit on the board as part of its additional cost. If I also use <<Iron Revenant>> ability to get 1 extra power, am I allowed to banish the unit I killed as part of Ledros' cost?
16

A: To be even more specific, you first declare if the optional additional cost will be done (355.1.a.). Then, the exact value for variable discounts like Ledros are determined now (356.4.g.); so you would declare which unit you want to kill but not yet kill the unit. Standard costs are paid first (357.1.), which you can use Iron Revenant to add a Power (357.1.a.; adding resources can be done mid-finalization 430.3.). The unit is not yet killed (it would get killed in 357.2.) so you must banish a separate unit instead.
Replying to @Doowan_
No, because while an optional additional cost like Commander Ledros requires you to make the choice to utilize it before determining total cost, performing it comes after standard costs are paid. 354.1 & 354.2

#RiftboundQOTD: I play <<Dockside Lock-Up>> to a battlefield and target an enemy <<Neeko Blending In>> there; it resolves. I later hold on that battlefield and trigger Dockside, playing their Neeko. Can I choose one of my enemy's legends and add it to my legend zone?

A: Should be no, but I don’t really have good RAW support for why. While “those Legends” would imply you can pick them, you do not control (nor do you gain control) those Legends and hence they cannot be added to your zone. However, it is a bit unclear. There is a debate on whether you can pick your own 3 legends if you registered them after playing their Neeko. Unless you have a Neeko in your own deck, I don’t believe that’s allowed as you can only register 3 extra legends if Neeko is in your deck. Nonetheless, still up for debate.
