warning: aura obliterating caption incoming: yesterday was my birthday and I woke up feeling so insanely grateful- i kinda feel like every night on tour is like a birthday party and it's really beautiful and awesome haha. I feel so incredibly privileged and grateful that I get to do this as my job and thank you everyone who listens to my music or comes to my shows for that gift. as artists i feel like we're constantly comparing ourselves to our peers, measuring our metrics, wishing we were somewhere different or more "successful" than where we currently are and that ambition clouds the ability to be present in the moment and grateful for what we've already achieved. and it might sound cliche but Ive realized it's really true that if an artist cant be happy with where we are now, then even when we achieve that next "career milestone", we still won't be happy because we'll be thinking about reaching the next one "above that." it doesn't matter if you're playing 50 cap venues or 50,000- this feeling doesn't go away with any external achievement. only internal. (btw i think its not really something you 'learn' but more like something you practice learning every day and im really practicing rn hahah). anyway, after this post i might go back to aura farming and clout bombing for social capital- not sure. 😁 but you know i had to do it to em. love you🩶 - dorian
