They murdered her mother. They executed six of her brothers. They took her.

They meant to erase her.

In November 2014 she found an unlocked door and ran. A Muslim family hid her and got her out.
She reached Germany. She could have vanished.
Instead, at 22, she stood before the UN Security Council and forced the world to hear what ISIS did to Yazidi girls.
The UN recognized the genocide. In 2018 she founded Nadia’s Initiative. That same year she became the first Iraqi woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
She didn’t celebrate for herself.
She pointed to the ones still missing.
ISIS tried to turn her into property.
