As a clinician, have you ever inadvertently provided a patient with technical information about a method of #suicide? Our @bmj_latest letter cautions against providing information during an assessment that may increase the lethality of subsequent attempts bmj.com/content/393/bmj-2025…
Paracetamol overdose is time critical.

ECT really does save lives. Our new SR/MA shows reduced mortality with ECT v comparator treatments. No reduction in suicides, but you probably wouldn't expect to be able to show that. Great work from Hamish Naismith's PhD.

This #WorldMentalHealthDay, we must ensure mental health care is available, accessible & equitable for all, especially during crises. Urgent global action & investment are needed to strengthen mental health systems across the world and ensure mental health care as a human right.
2) Inequalities in access to nature highlight that provision of nature spaces and opportunities must be shaped in a way that makes them accessible for all.
3) The quality of outdoor experiences matters (safety, natural features, community support).
#UrbanPlanning #PublicHealth
Key findings: 1) #Nature exposure is consistently linked to better #mentalhealth and higher #wellbeing, whereas certain #urban characteristics are associated with poorer mental health and increased substance use.

While I was away……excellent paper from @DrAPitman on how geographical variations in suicide rates can be explained.
Why are rates higher in the NE?
Suicide risk in England isn't the same everywhere.
Study by @imperialcollege, @ucl + @LSEnews finds areas with more poverty + busy roads/railways had higher risk; areas with more diversity, people + green space had lower risk.
