The future of Australia isn’t certain or guaranteed. A bright future requires strategy, planning and preparedness. There is hope in the future of us, but action is needed. I put the evidence into practice in The Future of Us - out 1 April w/ @newsouthbook. #auspol #demography

AI and data centres are the latest in a long line up of powerful groups backed by seriously big money that are lobbying govt behind closed doors.
We need so much more transparency around who is meeting with govt, how often, & what influence they have over policy.
AI has potential but we need a govt willing to stand up, put safeguards in place against misuse and demand a LONG TERM benefit for 🇦🇺

My statement on ANU apology

ALT I am pleased with the resolution agreed with the Australian National University. I look forward to helping the University rebuild trust, and helping to ensure that what happened to me is not the experience of future whistleblowers. I would like to thank: my lawyer Dougal Hurley who has worked tirelessly in pursuit of accountability, my friends in parliament and academia, and my husband and family whose unwavering support sustained me.

Whistleblowers, like Dr Liz Allen, show enormous courage and play a critical role exposing wrongdoing at the highest levels.
I've been pushing hard for better protections for whistleblowers in 🇦🇺, including a Whistleblower Protection Authority.
I welcome this apology & settlement and seeing both Dr Allen and the new leadership at the ANU move forward in a brighter chapter for one of our most loved institutions.
