This is just a single day’s worth of disposable tourniquets from our emergency department. It equates to a whopping 80k tourniquets per year!
Following a successful trial of Daisygrip tourniquets we are working with the trust to make the switch to reusable.

Simple measures work! Covering the coagulation screens with a reminder of the indications to reduce unnecessary tests. A recent audit in ED showed over 60% of coag requests had no clear indication (sepsis, d dimer and trauma covered separately!) – at East Midlands, England

This key project that will improve patient and staff experience in our ED department was delivered on budget and ahead of schedule thanks to hard work and dedication of a multi-disciplinary team at @nhsuhcw including @KaraMarshall1 @DrEdHartley @DPeach22 @MarieFogarty7 🏨🙏🏻💙
It’s taken almost two years and been done in six phases, but the £15m expansion of our Emergency Department is now complete.
As well as increasing capacity, the refurb gives staff more dedicated space and access to new equipment to deliver quality care.
