In February, my nephew died by suicide. He was 24.
This week, the CDC reported a decline in the U.S. suicide rate. Progress.
But each data point is a person. Someone loved. Someone missed.
The numbers matter. So does what happens before someone becomes one.
We have much work to do.

Boston’s alternative response models—like @The_BMC Tele-BEST, ED Diversion Team, and @HealthyBoston EMS co-response—show there’s a better way. These programs offer compassionate, trauma-informed care and deserve more attention and support. There’s more work to do.
