After Brazil and Serbia, Israel will be interesting....
Bibi Netanyahu is polling much higher amongst younger Israelis than amongst older ones.

The day symbolizes gratitude for life-giving water, fertility, and the end of drought.
Traditionally, people gathered beside rivers, lakes & seas to honour water. To reflect on what sustains life, and our responsibility to protect it. 💧🌿

Congrats to the maestro Juninho Pernambucano ⚽️
And apart from perhaps Raí and Casagrande, hardly anyone else in their field of work. Wish Socrates were around....

This is Shaya, a Persian leopard rescued from poachers who tried to sell her on the black market. With gentle care at a wildlife rehab centre, she's only just learning to trust again.
Only 1,000–1,200 remain in the wild, mostly in Iran 🐆

🐆 The palang still walks Iran’s mountains.
In recent days, four Persian leopards have been captured on camera in the heights of Minab, Hormozgan, while another has been recorded in Salook, North Khorasan , two ends of Iran.
The Persian leopard is more than wildlife. For centuries the پلنگ/palang has lived in Iranian mythology, poetry and epic as a symbol of courage, strength, intelligence and victory. In Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, heroes are repeatedly associated with the palangineh, the leopard-skin garment of warriors, and Rostam himself is famously depicted with leopard-skin imagery.
Today Iran remains the great global stronghold of this Endangered cat, holding perhaps up to 83% of the world population.
Protecting the palang means protecting part of Iran’s living natural and cultural heritage.

Sometimes intercourse really is a matter of global importance… 🐆
Only an estimated 550–850 Persian leopards survive in Iran, the species’ greatest remaining stronghold.
Every successful mating offers hope of new cubs, greater genetic diversity and a future for dangerously small, fragmented populations, but only if their prey, habitats and wildlife corridors are protected.

A billionaire donor to Britain’s Reform UK party was previously involved in a business venture with Astan Quds Razavi, a powerful Iranian religious foundation under the authority of the country’s supreme leader, the Guardian reported.
Hossein “Sasan” Ghandehari, an Iranian-born British businessman who has pledged millions of pounds to Reform UK, was the main investor behind a telecoms project in Iran between 2013 and 2016, according to a French arbitration ruling reviewed by the newspaper.
Ghandehari’s HP Trust ultimately owned Ori Group, which acquired a 49% stake in Omran Razavi International Co, a joint venture established to build and supply a fiber-optic network carrying telecommunications traffic across Iran.
The remaining 51% of the venture was owned by Astan Quds Razavi, or AQR, a multibillion-pound religious foundation based in Mashhad.

"Mahsa Jina Amini, your name will become the message."
And it did. Across borders and languages, your name carries a demand for freedom, dignity, and a woman’s right to live on her own terms.
We remember you.

زن، زندگی، آزادی
Jin, Jiyan, Azadî.

The speed with which far-right sentiment has captured large chunks of Liverpool and its surrounding... quite frightening.
Could see it happening in 2021-2022, budding out of government distrust re: COVID response, but the last few years have seen a rapid acceleration.
Surreal for a city which has had so many waves of mass immigration.
Just like its eponymous dish, Liverpool is a hotchpotch of different cultures and waves of different immigrants have shaped the city over decades, over centuries Seafarers from Scandinavia over a millenium ago, the home of Europe's first Chinatown (which flourishes to this day), Irish immigrants fleeing famine in the 19th century...
The legacy of the transatlantic slave trade left its mark, with Afro-Caribbean communities contributing to Liverpool's rich tapestry. Yemeni sailors, drawn to the city's bustling port, added to the mix at the beginning of the 20th century....
These waves of immigration have woven together to create the unique and dynamic city that Liverpool is today. Each time, the face of the city was changed.
Whether you're eighth-gen Chinese-scouse, sixth-gen Irish-scouse or fifth-gen Yemeni-scouse, or whatever else, don't ever let these people take your identity away and see you as any less 🫂 #Liverpool

Sad to see all this happening in front of our eyes....
I see the change, in my commute, in real time...

A decade or so ago this lot were coming from outside the city, and were chased back into Lime Street station. Now large chunks of Liverpool's suburbs have Restore Britain banners...

When I posted 3 years ago about the changing face of politics in many areas esp. in North Liverpool, a lot of people disregarded it and said never gonna happen - "we are a proudly anti-fascist city"/"we chased James Goddard's crew back into Lime Street station" etc...
I never said that this is in all of Liverpool, just that there are parts which have been very heavily influenced by the far right and it's getting worse. I see a lot of Restore Britain banners on cars, and the odd Sonnenrad or Wolfsangel in the gym...
Everything from socio-economic deprivation, to distrust festering around the pandemic, to Talk TV being branded "Liverpool TV" has contributed.
Not accepting this is happening doesn't help anyone.
