ALT Exposure to war and conflict modifies human genome - For the first time, the “epigenetic impacts” of war and conflict on individuals exposed to war, as well as outcomes related to their children has been established. Epigenetics refers to the packaging of the DNA, which impacts how genes are read and, in turn, the proteins which may be related to function are produced. Such effects have become linked to environmental exposures such as stress.
