Required reading for academics and philanthropists. University of Toronto is scandalously burying the fact that the study they endorsed was flawed. By not retracting their approval, they continue to contribute to avoidable deaths around the world. retractionwatch.com/2025/04/…

Canada 🇨🇦 doesn’t just need #ElbsUp it need to #pivothard. Neither @MarkJCarney or @PierrePoilievre are the PM Canada needs right now. Both want to just shuffle deck chairs on the Titanic.

Earlier initiation of screening mammography at age 40 may yield substantial health care savings by reducing the cost of breast cancer treatment. ja.ma/4fzvgQl

The CAD is getting close to what many banks predict it’s 2025 low to be… but it will likely go a bit lower. Is it time to move US index investments (in TFSA and RRSP accounts) over to CAD hedged equivalents (given a 20 yr time horizon and switching back later to unhedged)?

We cannot afford NOT to screen early. The cost of treating advanced breast cancer has skyrocketed, driven by the high cost of new, beneficial drugs and improved survival. Cdn research by @JeanSeely @Anwilkinson and others shows there are large reductions in treatment costs when cancers are detected earlier. Let's save lives, reduce suffering, and decrease the burden on the healthcare system! @markhollandlib @drsdelliscc @MPJulian @telfordk @CPHO_Canada @cantaskforce @WabKinew @francoislegault #cdnpoli

Canadians get the lowest quality healthcare system they are willing to tolerate. No politician wants to spend on HC unless they MUST for their political survival. It’s time to set aside our politeness, complacency and indifference… time to be angry. @CMA_Docs @Albertadoctors

The CMA is very concerned about the capital gains change and has requested an appearance before the Standing Committee on Finance. We urge #FINA to sit over the summer to reconsider the proposed changes threatening physician recruitment and retention in Canada. #CDNpoli

The @cantaskforce is guilty of being a “False Authority” (FA) The FA fallacy occurs when a person making an argument doesn’t have the knowledge or qualifications to be credible but is perceived as credible b/c they are respected or admired. @CanadaSBI @CMA_Docs @picardonhealth

The breast screening guideline is ONLY one of many @cantaskforce guidelines harming Canadians. Almost every major healthcare area is impacted. Read why Canadians, who need up-to-date, safe, and clear guidelines for proper care, should be worried. responsiblehealthcareguideli…

TRIGGER warning: graphic descriptions (written) I provided input to the Canadian Task Force, how the previous guidelines harmed me. Scratch that: are killing me. I’m not sure the time I spent writing the brief made an iota of a difference based on the newly proposed guidelines. But if you are interested in reading what the impact of “underdiagnosis” can have - meaning not screening until you become symptomatic - take a read of my submission to the House of Commons. ourcommons.ca/Content/Commit… @PHAC_GC @GovCanHealth @CAMO_ACom @densebreastscdn @cantaskforce @CFPC_e @CWIMorg @CARadiologists @CanadaSBI @canadianPM @markhollandlib @YaaraSaks @MarciIen @sylviajonesMPP @DonDavies @LisaHepfner @MarieFrRenaud @drsdelliscc @AdrianaLaGrange

GRADE allows observational studies to be upgraded if they are show large magnitude benefits (Pan Canadian) and for RCTs to be downgraded if they are problematic (CNBSS). The @cantaskforce ignored this inconvenient truth.
Replying to @DrPaulaGordon
The Task Force follows “GRADE methodology”, a robust method for evaluating different forms of evidence.
