Lovely fall morning for checking cattle, lots of moisture lately.
No wind again, yet they are building multiple new wind farms in East Central Alberta. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over again and expecting different results??
Crazy times we live in...
Weaned calves yesterday, the cows are back out in the field to feed this morning, not quite as noisy at the yard for a few hours… till they come back to the corrals for water later. Perfect weather for weaning, - 8 degrees
I loved running one of these draglines for over 40 years, until Notley ruined it all… but have always loved raising good cattle (50 head cow/calf) on our farm
Just part of a multi - pronged approach to create a little global warming on this cold October morning…

Always a good feeling to see a .clean stock trailer, hopefully for at least a little while, after the cows & now the bulls are out on pasture for the summer. Almost as satisfying as a 5 mile run on a nice summer morning… after a little much needed rain
Fixing fence at our pasture at the Halkirk Wind Farm today, always pleasant to find the remains of a hawk & a male mallard duck (below the fence line). Wind power - environmentally toxic in every way…
Cows & calves enjoying some 12*C weather this afternoon. This calving season has probably been the the best first cycle we’ve had in awhile, forty first calf born yesterday, just 19 days after the first one hit the ground. Two sets of twins, only about 15 left to come
