June 6, 1944. An American paratrooper jumps into Normandy in the dark and lands on the roof of a church. By the end of the war he had been declared dead, held a funeral he didn't attend, escaped the Nazis, and fought his way toward Berlin in a Soviet tank unit. His name was Joseph Beyrle. He's believed to be the only American soldier to serve in both the US Army and the Red Army during World War Two. Beyrle was from Muskegon, Michigan. He joined the 101st Airborne, the Screaming Eagles. His buddies called him Jumpin' Joe. On D-Day night his plane was hit by flak and he jumped early. He came down on a church roof, slid off, and lost his unit in the chaos. For a few days he fought on his own, blowing up a power station and cutting German communications. Then he was captured. Here's where it gets strange. A German soldier ended up wearing Beyrle's uniform and dog tags. That German was killed. When the body was found, the Americans identified it as Joseph Beyrle. The army told his parents their son was dead. His hometown held a funeral mass for him. His obituary ran in the local paper. Meanwhile, he was very much alive, being moved from one German prison camp to another. He escaped more than once. One time he and two other prisoners jumped off a train heading east. They thought they were heading for Russia and freedom. They got lost and ended up in Berlin, where they were caught by the Gestapo, beaten, and tortured. In January 1945, from a camp in eastern Germany, he finally made a clean escape. He went east, toward the gunfire. Toward the Soviets. When he found a Soviet tank unit, he walked out with his hands up, holding a pack of Lucky Strike cigarettes, and shouted the only Russian he knew. American comrade. It worked. He asked to join them. And they said yes. For about a month, an American paratrooper rode with Soviet tank crews as they pushed toward Germany. He used his demolition training. He fought. He was reportedly welcomed by a Soviet officer who was one of the rare women commanding a tank battalion. Then a German dive bomber attacked. Beyrle was badly wounded. He was evacuated to a Soviet hospital. Soviet Marshal Georgy Zhukov reportedly visited, heard his story, and gave him papers to get to the American embassy in Moscow. When he showed up, the embassy didn't believe him. As far as the US was concerned, Joseph Beyrle was dead. They held him under guard until his fingerprints proved who he was. He made it home to Michigan in April 1945. In 1946 he got married. In the same church where they'd held his funeral. Decades later, in 1994, he was honored at the White House by President Bill Clinton and Russian President Boris Yeltsin for serving both countries. And the last twist. His son, Joseph Beyrle II, grew up to become the United States Ambassador to Russia.

Keith Callahan was the kind of platoon sergeant you thought nothing could happen to. The man was a badass. In this clip, I talk with Travis Cooke about the day we lost SFC Keith A. Callahan and how hard it hit us. I looked up to Keith. Having to step in as acting platoon sergeant after losing him was something I never expected to do. Still wish I could sit down and have another conversation with him. Miss you, brother. 🇺🇸 If you served with Keith, I’d love to hear a story about him. Full episode with Travis Cooke is out now on Boots & Chutes Unfiltered, pinned above on my profile. Check it out. I didn't need Fox News to tell me this. @Future_Conflict was on this before Fox.
CHAOS INC: A Fox News Digital investigation by @FoxNews Digital's senior editor of investigations @AsraNomani has identified 54 organizations behind France's escalating protests — a sprawling network of communist parties, revolutionary socialist groups, labor unions, Palestine-solidarity organizations and international media outlets working to transform grievances into a full-blown revolt against capitalism, government austerity and military spending. Now, 28 communist and socialist youth organizations across 12 European countries are mobilizing for a coordinated November 20 strike under the slogan "Fight for Our Future, Not Their Wars," calling for walkouts, blockades, occupations and mass demonstrations. Among the international amplifiers: organizations tied to Neville Roy Singham, a Marxist tech tycoon living in Shanghai, whose network includes Tricontinental and BreakThrough News, a New York-based outlet that published advance coverage of the weekend's mayhem in France. Good Morning, Please join me for a daily scripture break. Psalm 91:3: "Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.” Today’s post is the third installment of our study on our enemy - the devil.  The purpose of these three posts is to remind the Body of Christ who our real enemy is. (Ephesians 6:12). Please revisit these posts in the near future and allow the Holy Spirit to take you in the direction you need to go.  In our last post, we began to unpack satan’s toolbox.  We took a look at Mark 4:3-20 - the parable of the sower.  In order to present the toolbox in one post I will outline the contents of his toolbox with references you can examine at your convenience. The dubious contents of Satan’s toolbox: 1. He uses afflictions, persecutions to choke the Word of God. He also utilizes deceitfulness of riches, cares of this life, and lust of other things to choke the Word of God. (Mark 4:3-20, Job 1-2, I Peter 5:8, Luke 8:12) 2. He is but a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:10) 3. He uses false miracles to deceive people. (Matthew 24:24) 4. He is the father of lies. (John 8:44) 5. He tells half-truths, “misquotes truth,” ignores responsibility when lies are exposed, “mistakes were made”, manipulates language to confuse the true meaning of a thought; all done in order to deceive.(Revelation 12:9) 6. He uses cunning to lure people into disobedience. (Genesis 3:1, II Corinthians 11:3, and Ephesians 4:14) 7. He uses fear to keep people in bondage. (II Timothy 1:7, Proverbs 29:25) 8. He uses worry and anxiety to paralyze the believer from action. (Matthew 6:25-34, Philippians 4:6-7) 9. He blinds us to the truth. (II Corinthians 4:4) 10. He uses temptation and deception to coax us away from God into sin.(I John 2:16, I Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:5, Hebrews 10:26, Revelation 21:8, Romans 1:24-27, I Timothy 1:9-10, I Corinthians 5:11) 11. He is the accuser of the brethren. (Revelation 12:10) 12. He disguises himself as an angel of light.(II Corinthians 11:13-14, II Thessalonians 2:9) 13. He is full of pride. (Isaiah 14:12-14, Ezekiel 28:17, I Timothy 3:6, I John 2:16-17) 14. His nature betrays his presence (if you witness these sins in a situation - satan or his minions is (are) present) - (Proverbs 6:16-19, Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Leviticus 18:22-30, Deuteronomy 22:5, Proverbs 11:1, Deuteronomy 25:13-16, Luke 16:15) 15. He sows discord and division against the brethren. (Ephesians 6:10-12, James 3:16, Galatians 5:15, II Thessalonians 2:4. & by inference I Corinthians 14:33 and Matthew 12:26) 16. He devises wicked schemes against believers. (Psalm 21:11, Psalm 37:7, Psalm 119:150, Isaiah 32:7, and Psalm 10:2) 17. He opposes the advancement of the Kingdom of God. (I Thessalonians 2:17-18) 18. He (and his followers) pervert what is good - he cannot create anything good. (For example, in Acts 13:10 - Paul challenges a sorcerer, Elymas - “You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?”) 19. He brings sickness and illness to injury us. (Luke 13:11-12,16,II Corinthians 12:7, Job 2:7) This isn’t an all-inclusive list and I highly encourage you to continue in your own research. In this last section of today's post I want to consider some of the nuances satan may employ against us. Let’s examine the following topics - shrewdness, cunning, subterfuge, discernment and projection. Cambridge dictionary defines shrewdness as "clear understanding and good judgment of a situation, usually resulting in an advantage” Cunning is defined as "the quality or skill of being good at planning something so you get what you want, especially by tricking other people.” Subterfuge is defined as "a trick or a dishonest way of achieving something.”  Discernment is defined as "the ability to judge people and things well.”  Projection is defined as "the act of imagining that someone else feels a particular emotion or wants something when in fact it is you who feels this way; an example of this act.” There are some words that insinuate a negative connotation while others are just neutral or exclusively positive. In Matthew 10:16 Jesus is preparing His Disciples to evangelize the world, the verse says, "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.”  This verse encourages the Disciples how to conduct themselves “among wolves” that is to be shrewd and innocent.  Jesus would never ask us to sin and therefore shrewdness does not have a negative connotation.  Let’s review the definition we considered above. To act in a shrewd manner means to obtain "clear understanding and good judgment of a situation, usually resulting in an advantage.”  It’s funny the world is teeming with hypocrites.  The enemies of the Kingdom of God demand to pursue circumstances for their benefit even if they break the law but the same tactics are “forbidden” to be employed against them. Do yourself a favor, stop expecting the world to be fair, honest and true because it isn’t.  Shrewdness is to be judged based on the condition of the heart of the person who practices it. (Luke 16:8) Cunning is a characteristic attributed to the snake in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:1) Cunning is defined as "the quality or skill of being good at planning something so you get what you want, especially by tricking other people.”   Although many would say this characteristic is a negative, this trait (like shrewdness) should be judged based not the condition of the heart of the person who practices it. Subterfuge is a negative characteristic.  The definition suggests a deliberate deception is employed to achieve something from someone else.  Psalm 141:9 says, "Keep me safe from the traps set by evildoers, from the snares they have laid for me.”  As this post examined the toolbox of satan, this characteristic should be added to his toolbox. Discernment is something we have discussed in the past, and it is definitely a tool for the Christian to navigate the ills of this world. The discerning of spirits is a gift from God. (I Corinthians 12:10, I John 4:1) Projection is revealing a weakness of those who refuse to accept accountability for their own actions and instead wrongfully assign blame on others, as if those others were motivated by the same sins that plague the person doing the projecting.  This is important because if you can detect this behavior in a person it will assist you in discerning their motives and their behavior. (It is a tell.) So let’s return to our verse for today. Psalm 91:3 - "Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.”  Despite of all the material we have reviewed please remember this verse. Please read the verse again. Whatever traps the devil plans himself or through the actions of others; God will save you. I Corinthians 10:13 says, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”   This verse gives me such hope. There is so much out of our control.  The evil plots and schemes to destroy our country, our culture and what they have in mind is putrid evil because that is all they have to offer. Please remember to invoke II Chronicles 7:14 for the sake of our nation. Many blessings to you. Peace and be prepared.

Another useful DIY project: the whoopie sling. Amsteel rope is going to be your best bet. Whoopie slings are simple to make and come in handy for a variety of things. Amsteel itself is extremely light, so there’s no downside to having at least 2 of these in your pack. The non-moving loop is simply tapered and deep buried into the end. If you’re familiar with synthetic tow ropes, you will notice that the end of those is also tapered and deep buried.

This is where CASEVAC is going. When mines and drones close the ground route, you fly the casualty out unmanned or keep him alive forward until the corridor opens. Our CTCs need to train both now, not after the next DOTMLPF cycle.
Ukraine’s 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade says it evacuated a wounded soldier from a front line position using a heavy hexacopter drone in a first of its kind operation. According to the brigade, a soldier from the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade was injured at a position that could not be reached by conventional evacuation means due to heavy enemy drone activity and mines. Specialists from the 92nd Brigade’s unmanned ground systems company used a heavy hexacopter made by Ukrainian company Gurzuf Defence to rescue the injured soldier. The brigade says the soldier survived and is now receiving treatment. It credited the 92nd, 30th and 14th Separate Mechanized Brigades, the 10th Army Corps and Gurzuf Defence.

If you, like myself are into hunting, long range shooting, or filming poor quality videos to put on X, you definitely need a tripod. I took a couple of pictures so you can see the easy modifications I made. Simply adding a clip provides a place to hang weight in high winds. This particular tripod isn’t too fancy, it’s just a titanium one from Bushnell and is only around $170. It’s solid & can handle some weight. I’m not fancy enough to go with carbon fiber from Manfroto. Attachments are key. A swivel-head and some form of a shooting saddle make a tripod worth owning. As always, I’m a rattle-can supremacist.🤣

500 subscribers on YouTube and we’re proud of every one. 🇺🇸 With just over 20 episodes of Boots & Chutes Unfiltered, this means a lot to @cmrowe77 and me. We do this in our spare time because we enjoy sitting down with good people and hearing their stories. The kind you’d never know unless you pulled up a chair and asked. We want to keep telling the conventional military’s stories. The deployments, the laughs, the hard days, the people you’ll never forget, and figuring out life after service. We put thought into who we invite. We want guests who care about the community and have something worth sharing. And you don’t have to be a GWOT veteran to come on. If you’ve got a military story we should hear—or know someone who does reach out. To our guests and everyone who’s watched, commented, subscribed, or sent an episode to a buddy: you helped us get here. THANK YOU! More guests. More stories. Plenty left to talk about. Real stories. No script. Unfiltered. @Boots_N_Chutes #BootsAndChutesUnfiltered #Veterans #Military

📸MID-WEEK PHOTOGRAPHY TIMELINE CLEANSE📸 This is one of my favorite "street" shots that I have ever taken. It's in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. I like it because it tells a story. A teacher (or a mom) has a group of kids on a school trip to the art gallery. One of the kids has a little problem of some kind that the teacher/mom is attending to. While she is distracted, one of the other kids tries to "escape," only to find herself under the watchful eye of a security guard.🤣 Olympus E-P1, Lumix 20mm, handheld, f/2.5, 1/250th, ISO 200

YOU KNOW BLACK HAWK DOWN. HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE SOLDIERS WHO FOUGHT TO BRING THEM HOME? Andrew Dennison was there with 2-14 Infantry, 10th Mountain Division. On Boots & Chutes Unfiltered, he shares his account of linking up with the Rangers and helping them get out on foot during what became known as the Mogadishu Mile. Their part in that fight deserves more than a passing mention. They went into the same streets, faced the same gunfire, and fought to bring fellow Americans home. Recognizing 2-14 Infantry Battalion takes nothing away from the courage of the Rangers. It gives more of the men who fought that battle their due. 👇 To the special operations community: Why isn’t 2-14’s role a bigger part of how we tell this story? No one ever mentions it. @Boots_N_Chutes @cmrowe77 #BootsAndChutesUnfiltered #10thMountain #Mogadishu

Outside of a weapon, this is all saddle-hunting requires. Way lighter than a tree stand & as you will see in the posts following this one, way safer. It also adapts to small and large trees. There are many reputable places to buy a tree-saddle (harness), but as you can probably tell, I just sewed up my own.
