SQLite is not faster at being a filesystem. It’s faster at storing a bunch of blobs because that’s a very different task from being a filesystem.
Database FileSystems were an area of heavy research in the 2000s with Mac and Windows both putting forward their solutions. IMHO, they both futzed it up. The Mac version wasn’t bad under the covers, but it exposed very little of the potential benefits.
If anyone is interested in restarting this line of research, the source for the original ideas was BeFS. The author of that filesystem (Dominic Giampalo) wrote a book on the subject and later made it free to download from his website:

Holy cow a lot of people watched “I Love Lucy”.
While Seinfeld has been insanely durable, interestingly it was not an outlier for TV's #1 show at the time.
It just held up much better.

I’m already assuming that @GameOfThrones series finale will be disappointing, so I’m gonna rewatch the last episode of @TheAmericansFX again a few more times, since it’s probably closest to the perfect series finale ever.

I love that scene in Good Will Hunting where Ben Affleck is talking to Matt Damon's titular character Will Hunting and he's like “you've got a gift man and you've gotta get outta this town and make something of yourself” and the gift in question is being really good at math and the town he needs to get out of is Boston, Massachusetts.

When I worked in nuclear, I gave talks on bugs I found with a slide titled "How are we all not dead yet?" where I gave an example of a device that has been running on the field for decades with no issues, but had 6,000 data races (that weren't false pos) to explain resilience 1/2

JetBrains IDEs are now powered by libghostty! This brings huge feature and performance improvements to JB terminals! Based on their own annual reports, that's over 12.5 million active users across all platforms about to get a libghostty-powered terminal. blog.jetbrains.com/platform/…
I'll repeat myself: libghostty is and was always the primary goal of the Ghostty project (I said this in the first public talk I ever gave about Ghostty). The importance and impact of a free, liberally licensed, high quality terminal emulator library that runs anywhere and everywhere dwarfs any single terminal emulator application on its own.
I've estimated Ghostty's (GUI, not libghostty) own users at around a couple million. Overnight, 6x that are using a libghostty-powered terminal. From one integration.
Happy to see this, happy to hear JetBrains had a positive experience, and looking forward to continuing to improve and ship a stable libghostty tag soon!

The opening paragraph to AJP Taylor's "The Course of German History" remains my absolute favourite start to a history book. Nobody's ever hit this hard right off the bat before
Ok, this is serious.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

Did Elizabeth Holmes coming after me and my sources with everything she had and threatening to sue us out of existence bias me? Yes.
Replying to @JohnCarreyrou @nytimes
I am a big fan of you, don’t get me wrong. but My question is do you think you have any bias as a result of your experience as a journalist in this case?
Feature request for @ClaudeDevs: I have multiple browser profiles and multiple Claude accounts and Claude Code constantly sends a generated Artifact to a browser that's not logged in to the same Claude account, thus giving me "Page not found" errors constantly, until I manually copy and paste the URL to the correct browser profile. Please fix and save me as I really like using artifacts!

One sentence macro model: On the way out the door, every farmer's wife says to every farmer, "the weather's looking bad so don't buy as much at the market this week, but also don't sell our crops for less than the usual price."

Here's my take on what a software factory really is
This is my talk from @aiDotEngineer NYC, and I decided to record a version for everyone to watch on X.
tl;dr - software engineering is becoming factory engineering, and there's new work (especially factory benchmarking) that engineers should start focusing on.
