In 2021, I published my 1st book. I gave around 6 or 7 book talks for it. It was reviewed by a bunch of different academic journals & even some news outlets. In July of this year, I published my second book. Crickets. Are academics just not reading anymore either?

Arguably, my first book was on a more niche topic but it was also North Korea-centric which also draws people in. My 2nd book is on China, Cuba, and Vietnam (with some N.Korea sprinkled in) so it's broader. It's more of a military history book too. Genuinely strange.
