Pt with met thyroid CA to ilium, growing s/p XRT. Cryoablation zone overlapping SI joint. On 3-mo scan, air pockets in nonviable treated lesion. Concerned for abscess, but NL WBC, nontender, afebrile, so observed. Over past 1.5 yrs, air persistent. Ablation-induced pneumatocyst?!

Always amazed to see the #abscopal effect. Performed microwave ablation of HCC then later Y90 segmentectomy of new HCC. Great response @3mo, but tumorigenic explosion on 5 mo f/u MRI. Pt declined further tx. 3 & 6 mo later, no viable disease! #betterluckythangood @SIO_Central
