Our printed Book of Hours is now displayed open on a page with one of the erased inscriptions I recovered! See if you can peak some of the writing 😊
Anne Boleyn's Printed Book of Hours (c.1527) is now open on a page with a beautiful hand decorated illumination of the Coronation of the Virgin. On the opposite page, underneath the prayer, is the remnants of an erased inscription recovered by Castle Historian @kateemccaffrey.

Today, pupils studying A-level History have started studying Henry VIII by looking at sources describing him as a new monarch. The almost life-sized model helped them empathise.

Year 8 pupils have been studying the rivalry between Queen Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots. They designed their own Marian Hanging using symbols to represent the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. Whilst in captivity for 19 years in England, Mary spent a lot of time doing embroidery and the Marian Hanging was a famous example of this.
