Cleaner of cultural clutter... an uphill battle against plastic, paper and digital storage. I like films of a certain age...

A happy 83rd birthday to Cornish actor and historian John Nettles. Having played detective Jim Bergerac for a decade, his excellent Channel Islands books have explored their history, including the German occupation during WW2, a subject touched upon in the TV series itself.

The damning verdict on Man City provides vindication for Liverpool owners FSG, who for so long argued that the rules weren’t being properly respected or enforced. But this is no victory. How can it be when you were robbed of so much by a rival cheating? nytimes.com/athletic/7641148…

"Into the Groove" was released in 1985 (track from the film Desperately Seeking Susan and single that became Madonna's first UK #1). On July 13, 1985, she took the stage at Live Aid in Philadelphia (JFK Stadium) and delivered one of the most iconic performances in the festival's history.

Burnham committing Labour to electoral reform is big. Win the next election, introduce a fairer system and he may be the last PM with a majority of seats in Parliament on a minority votes in the country. Coalitions would become the norm.

Why don't we just let columnists and internet shitposters run the security services and judicial system? Has no-one thought of that?

Fun fact: It was only one election and Labour was given a good kicking in 1979. He was too young for previous ele ctions. So, you're making that up. Apart from that we know nothing about his political thought. Not that it matters: his thoughts on existence are what count.
Fun fact: Ian Curtis - The defining voice of Joy Division (New Order) - who arguably carved out the band creative trajectory was a staunch supporter of the Conservative Party who voted Tory in every election. He once cadged a lift to the polling station from the local Liberal candidate (after giving the impression they’d back him), then went off and voted Tory. He held traditional right-wing views and, according to contemporary reports, vehemently opposed immigration. Dance to that Burnham, you dopey twat.
