Bad news, good news! Fust&Friends will leave the platform. Read why! We also want to share our entire collection at a ridiculous price, to make our typefaces accessible for those who like the fonts, but had no client to finance them — we can help. fustandfriends.com/type-libr…

Read my booklet about the inventive Hans Bockting, published in Dutch in 2014, now online in English!
Now online in English: my text for a booklet on Hans Bockting in the acclaimed Roots series by [Z]OO Productions. Bockting was co-owner of the award-winning studio UNA (Amsterdam), and inventive designer at Traffic Design in the mid-1970s. dutchgraphicroots.nl/?p=2330

I am rereading this! Written by novelist Hunter Davies, it is probably the most relaxed and frankest Beatles book ever; it’s the only authorized Beatles biography. Published in 1968, I’m pretty sure I bought this hardcover 1st ed. 2 years later, at 14. Design by Alan Aldridge.

Fust&Friends, information page. Here's screenshot, as only few of you will have seen it. I hope it made you grin. My favorite type writing: stuff that makes you grin. Getting rare. Self-praise promo, most of it. Oh, and Fust may close down later this year … with a final promo.

Some work can/should just go on. As a prelude to the jubilee Eye #100 – my piece on dynamic, perfectionist São Paulo designer Tereza Bettinardi. I love her lively yet meticulous work. eyemagazine.com/blog/post/cu…

I hope to be there! In fact, I just registered. The exhibition in the former US Embassy (a building by Marcel Breuer — now “Our Embassy”) is fascinating. Looking forward, etc.

Wim Crouwel passed away three weeks ago at 90. I got to know him around 2000 – an amiable and sensitive man. My introduction to Crouwel and his work is online: a chapter from Dutch Type: issuu.com/dutchtype/docs/cro…

RIP Wim Crouwel, not only one of the greatest Dutch graphic designers, but possibly the friendliest of the masters. If you don’t know much about his work and its context, read my chapter about him and his agency Total Design — here: bit.ly/WimCrouwel-DT

Finally photographed this Art Deco (-style) poster I once bought on a market in Belgium. Size is c. 110 × 70cm; MARCI printing office calls itself/its product Litho. July 6 is on a Monday, it says. Could that be 1925? Or is it more recent? No date on poster stamps – paid: 55 cent
