What does it take to increase agricultural production and build a stronger, more sustainable cooperative?
For COBACCO Ndego, the answer lies in knowledge, coaching, and effective management.
Through capacity-building support from Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF), in partnership with Kayonza Irrigation and Integrated Watershed management Project (KIIWP) COBACCO Ndego, a youth-led cooperative of 59 members (39 women and 20 men) in Ndego Sector, @KayonzaDistrict , has made progress in agricultural productivity, financial management, and business planning.
The cooperative grows vegetables and fruits, including chilli peppers and green beans, as well as maize and soybeans.
It also produces tree seedlings for agroforestry.
With improved farming knowledge and practices, production has increased from 3โ4 tons per hectare in 2022 to 8โ10 tons per hectare, demonstrating the value of strengthening young farmersโ skills and capacity.
Beyond increasing production, RYAF staff coach the cooperativeโs leadership committee on financial management, budgeting, planning, and the effective use of cooperative resources.
This support helps members improve accountability, make informed decisions, and build a more sustainable agricultural business.
COBACCO Ndego also creates employment opportunities for the surrounding community.
In recognition of its progress, the cooperative secured second place in the YouthConnekt Awards 2025.

Happy #InternationalCoffeeDay! โ๏ธ
Coffee is beyond a beverage; it is one of Rwandaโs primary export crops and a major catalyst for farmer prosperity. At @oneacrefundRW, we invest in coffee farmers to boost yield, elevate quality, and unlock high-value markets.
During the 2026AB season, in partnership with @RwandAgriExport, @CEPARWANDA, and 160 coffee washing stations, we served over 70,000 coffee farmers nationwide; delivering 2,800 metric tons of specialized coffee fertilizer, hands-on training, and aggregating 260 metric tons of their coffee harvest for export.
Truly, coffee fuels livelihoods and builds economic resilience. #CoffeeDay #RwandaCoffee
