7 hours, 8 cages, 38 birds, 6 escapes. All easily retrieved and settled in foster homes now. #ThisIsAnimalRescue
When one door closes, another one opens. Today we close the door on 715, but we’re keeping our eyes peeled for the next open door. We will be foster based for now, with all our stuff in storage, until we find another great space. Thank you all for your support!
Up at 6am to get five birds to the vet before work. #ThisIsAnimalRescue
Very busy adoption week - 5 rats, 2 rabbits, 1 Guinea pig, and 1 gerbil went to their forever homes this weekend!
Love getting out in the community and educating about our animals! Met with a great group of 1st-3rd graders today!
The youngest dumpster mouse babies are finally old enough to get an accurate count. 50 total mice from 10 adults and six litters. #ThisIsAnimalRescue
Five escaped (and then caught!) rats, five new cockatiels, 7 animals adopted, and 4 animals off to new foster jomes - busy, busy rescue day.
This weekend, so far: new Quaker from animal control, two chinchillas surrendered, five degus and a bearded dragon adopted, and two new volunteers trained. Tomorrow: cockatiel intake, foster pickups, and more adoptions! #ThisIsAnimalRescue
How’d the vet go? One reptile now gets meds in its cloaca for its hemipenes and the other gets its own blender to blend up live bugs 🤦♀️
Pippi is back from her foster home – but only for a few days! She’s camping out at the rescue until her adoption this weekend. We’re so excited for her and her new family!
January, by the numbers:
•59 intakes
•4 litters born in rescue to pregnant intakes
•15 adoptions
•6 new shelter volunteers trained
•9 neuters
•2 vaccines
•130 parasite prevention treatments administered
•2 urgent vet visits
Today’s agenda: transport storage items, photograph finches, identify & name 13 rats, train a new volunteer, feed 140 animals, and coordinate adoptions. #ThisIsAnimalRescue
Sometimes all we can do is make sure they are warm and loved as they finally let go. This is the sucky part of animal rescue.
