On this day in 2014, Canada defeats Sweden 6-3 to become the first women's curling team to go through the Olympics undefeated. The Jennifer Jones Rink out of the St. Vital Curling Club was the first Manitoba-based rink to win Olympic gold.
ALT Five women in matching white and red Team Canada jackets and black pants jump in the air on an Olympic podium, raising their arms and smiling in celebration. The podium front shows the Olympic rings and the words “Sochi 2014.” Behind them, a crowd of spectators cheers, with several people holding large Canadian flags. The scene is brightly lit inside an arena, with teal Olympic signage in the background and the athletes centered on the podium.
