Daughter spent 3 years and 9 months as an inpatient and was discharged with more diagnoses than she was admitted with.

Question for parents/carers of those who are mentally ill, including any who have been inpatients: Would wellbeing coaching be helpful in dealing with all the challenges you face? (I am a lived experience parent and a trainee coach wanting to make a difference). #mentalhealth

Exactly this. So pleased you heard about their amazing work. So angry that so many are avoidably detained for so long.

It makes you realise how negligent every other setting is. It drives home how many people are detained because of the behaviours of others and not because of their behaviours.

I watched my Dad get nursed by staff at the Royal Marsden. An NHS ward where he was treated with respect and dignity at all times. I am so thankful for that. But why is mental health care so different? Why should we fear for our life being amitted to a psychiatric ward?

Can any #AMHP advise on this please?

Can the Tribunal specify that she is discharged at a later date once a new unit finally offers her a bed? Or does she have to be discharged from it on the Tribunal date? There is no contingency plan if that happens 馃が #inpatient #MHAct #Tribunal

A VERY long shot鈥ut if anyone was on flight BA177 from Heathrow to JFK yesterday (Tues 4 April) at 1.10pm and landing at 3.30pm and found this little fella, there鈥檚 a distraught little boy who would love to be reunited with him. Get in touch if you can help. Thanks

Situation: D is in LSU which was due to close 31st March. Currently no bed identified on any other unit. Next week is Tribunal and it's likely she'll be discharged from Section 3 but will be informal patient. The LSU will not keep her as informal patient. #MentalHealthAct #S3

Exactly this: being told they鈥檙e responsible for how they respond to treatment that isn鈥檛 appropriate for them.
I wonder what percentage of people who鈥檝e died by suicide under mental health services were autistic, either undiagnosed, or diagnosed and not receiving the right treatment. All the while being told they鈥檙e responsible for how they respond to treatment that isn鈥檛 appropriate for them. #AutismAcceptanceMonth #AutismAcceptanceWeek #ActuallyAutistic #AcceptingAutism #AutismnotPD

Over 3 years ago, D (age 12) was admitted to an EDU. They left a door unlocked. She absconded. Her safety couldn't be assured & she moved to their HDU. 2 months there with her illness escalating. She was moved to a PICU overnight. #camhs #eatingdisorder #inpatient #shitshow 1/12

Rumour has it that some staff abandoned the one sinking LSU to join another sinking Huntercombe, which is now, rightfully, to close. Education gave up a long time ago, as did the dietitian. The YP had no choice but to put up with it. The things they enjoyed all disappeared. 6/12

Each week I am told that there is no update. Different units cannot meet her needs. They are seeing the words written on the referral (from Jan) and not seeing the person who is fighting desperately to come home. This next step is crucial and they have to get it right. 11/12

She has been an inpatient for so long because they got it wrong from the start. She's had ED support for 5 out of 37 months. There has been no effective therapeutic support. How can there not be one unit which can meet her needs? 12/12
