They collect VAT, WHT, HAT, MAT… a long list of taxes, but they don’t provide you job.
You manage to create one yourself, they don’t provide you light.
You manage to buy generator, but fuel isn’t even subsidized.
You spend three time more on your work amnesties because whether you’re a white collar or blue collar worker, the prices of your work tools keep increasing by the day.
You work online? You spend so much on data.
You’re a chef? Food items keep getting more expensive.
You work 9 to 5, your transportation cost/ fuel cost has tripled but your salary hasn’t.
You’re spending more to make same thing you’ve been making, or even lesser factoring in inflation.
But tax remains, because whether it’s a bank transaction, or a client paying you, there’s a tax attached.
But light is bad.
Health care is expensive.
Roads are depleted.
Education gets more expensive.
And you wonder, what then are they doing with these taxes???
30k to 60k people make an online transaction every minute in Nigeria, a flat VAT for each of these transactions. Do the maths!
50 naira x 60k people is 3 million per minute.
2,160,000,000 every day!
Where is this money going???
What sector reflects these taxes?
Do you not see you’re being robbed???

I really don’t like coming online to post my private life but I guess this is necessary.
I was assaulted and harassed by police officers at Somolu today.
They claimed that the vehicle that I have been driving for 5 years is stolen because a sticker that carries the plate number of the previous car owner was found on the top left corner of the windscreen of my vehicle
After giving them all my up-to-date car documents, including my proof of Ownership documents, they insist my car was a stolen vehicle. How is that possible when I have been renewing my papers and going for car inspections every year for the last 5 years ? Thier claim was just outrageous and wasn’t making any sense to me
One of them even went away with my car documents and I do not know where he went to and if he had gone to tamper with them. When I asked where my car papers were, one of them punched me in the chest 3 times. I have it on camera
I noticed a pattern of oppression and because I didn’t allow myself to be taken advantage of, they ended up rough handling me, holding me on my trousers like a common criminal and finally towing my car and confiscating in the street in front of their their station at Alade Police station, Balogun street Somolu. The environment do not seem safe and my car is a at risk of vandalism and worse getting stolen if it remains there overnight
Their intimidation was for me to be extorted and since I didn’t give them the chance to they decided to lay their hands on me and impound my car. One even called me a criminal in my face and threatened to shoot at me.
Please I need this post to reach the right authorities. I have called the police hotline designated to handle cases like this and for over 2 hours they kept telling me they will give me a call back. So at this point I am In the dark.
Please help me tag and bring the right authorities attention to this post. @AbimbolaShotayo @PoliceNG_CRU @CspIniedu @PoliceNG
I will be attaching video evidence of my assault.
