there are multiple moments in this movie - and that final fight in particular - where the artistry on display is so aesthetically overwhelming that i was instantly out of breath and moved to tears. an astonishing, once-in-a-lifetime achievement of filmmaking and storytelling that made me feel like i was falling in love with fantasy for the first time all over again. one of the strongest arguments i’ve ever seen against anything thinking it can replace art that humans make themselves. pure magic as a movie.
FINALLY OMW TO WILDWOOD WITH @SABOOSCHIN AHHHHHH 🥹❤️

Travis Knight says the final battle in ‘WILDWOOD’ is the most difficult sequence ever made at LAIKA. “It required us to use every single technique… It's a combination of hand drawn animation, stop-motion animation, CG animation & it’s something to behold.”

Davvero un peccato perché è un gran bel film visivamente mozzafiato e realizzato con una cura maniacale, una gemma rara in un periodo in cui l'animazione è sempre più omologata. Andate a vederlo se potete
‘WILDWOOD’ opened with $11M domestically. The second lowest opening for a LAIKA film.

Grazie! Per tutto il tempo, conoscendo l'immensa mole di lavoro dietro ad ogni singolo frame, son rimasto a bocca aperta (Poi che personaggio incredibilmente tragico Alexandra)

Just saw Wildwood in a early fan screening last night here is my review. Wow wow wow, this film is a work of art. LAIKA has out done themselves and made their magnum opus that now puts them on the same level as studios like studio Ghibli. Every frame of this film is so unbelievably beautiful and breathtaking. And to find out it's all stop go animation shot on 24s that took over 5 YEARS to shoot is nothing but astonishing. Especially when we live in a world where we are actively taking steps to remove as much resistance as possible when making anything, so to go and work on this movie in the hardest medium possible is nothing but crazy excellence that works perfectly. I don't want to go into too much spoilers but there is a war in the movie that puts it all together and really is peak animation visuals and makes you understand why they took there time with this movie. As for the story I thought it was great! There is great motivation for all the characters, no one feels like they just do things because the plot has to move on. I did read the book the movie was based on before the films release. And I have to say they really hit all the notes of the book really well while cutting out the fat and correcting things from the book I thought needed changing. From that Even though this movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes long (the longest stop-go animation film ever made by the way) there's no points in the film where I feel like anything goes on for too long or could be cut out which is is quite shocking for a movie of this length. So my final verdict is a 10/10 and quite possibly be my favorite film ever from the visuals, the sounds, music, the story it's all hits and I can't really recall any flaws. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!
