The Twitter replies to the AAP President’s very tepid statement on RFK Jr’s DHHS nomination are absolutely deranged - just a cavalcade of anti-vaccine nuts calling pediatricians stupid, evil or both.
Maybe it’s time to get off Twitter and move to bluer pastures
First patient of the day was a NB teen that attempted suicide, citing the anti-trans environment promised by a Trump second term. Pulled me right out of my funk - this is why we fight even when we can feel hopeless. Protect trans youth

The images from Al Aqsa Hospital are horrific and gut-wrenching.
Displaced families being burned alive. Where is the humanity?
This has been going on for over a year now. The U.S. must stop sending bombs and we desperately need a ceasefire.
An Israeli airstrike on a hospital compound in central Gaza early Monday sent flames ripping through tents housing displaced people, killing at least four and injuring dozens.
The Israeli military said it was targeting a Hamas command center. wapo.st/4eHL7N0
My son started kindergarten this week. I’m in tears thinking about what this family was going through, and they were lucky compared to some of their peers. It doesn’t have to be this way - we need gun safety legislation now

Can someone tell the PHM listserv that Imane Khelif isn’t trans? I’ve been trying to all day but my replies won’t go through and I’m getting very annoyed.
COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE OLYMPIC ISSUE: Trans women are women
A lot of people focusing on the bilirubin level (which yes, was high enough that under current guidelines the infant needed phototherapy to prevent kernicterus) when the real tragedy was the way CPS, the police and the pediatrician responded.
This is one of the most devastating, infuriating stories I've read in a long time. You think you're already angry at the basics of what happened and then it just keeps getting worse with each new detail. I recommend reading every word by @kylietcheung jezebel.com/black-couple-say…
You’re a hero for telling your story. @bariweiss and @EmilyYoffe should be ashamed for publishing a story about you without hearing FROM you

Outrageous and terrifying news:
Health insurance corporations are using unregulated AI algorithms to deny care for people on Medicare Advantage.
Robots should not be making life-or-death decisions.

A great piece on the current pediatric bed crisis written by someone I am lucky to call a mentor, Dr. Dan Rauch. It’s time to prioritize the health of our children, there is no better investment we can make.

Oh there’s a January 6th hearing today. I wonder what’s happening?
I stand with Dr. Andrews. The right wing in this country should stop with bigoted attacks that target some of our most vulnerable children and the pediatricians dedicated to providing them compassionate and evidence based care.
@NancyMace should be ashamed of herself
I think there are a number of quotes from physicians in this article that perfectly summarize why I have an enormous amount of distaste for chiropractors treating infants.
My first story for Well+Being published this morning —
Chiropractors on TikTok are adjusting infants and toddlers. Practitioners and parents say treatments help with colic and constipation but pediatricians say the care isn’t backed by science.

Two, it invents pathology where there is none and as a result worsens parental anxiety. “Colic” is a normal stage of development that is enormously difficult for parents (I’ve lived through it myself twice).
