On the way back, the @SouthwestAir plane crew refused to make an announcement to let people with connections off the plane first and I then watched the gate door close right in front of me as I ran up to it yelling. Again stranded overnight with no hotel.

I've been wondering when academics would start to be outraged by OA publishing costs. Apparently $10k/paper is the line. I think $2k is too much. Journals should disclose their operating costs. Cloud storage and websites are not that expensive.

I received an email from a company asking me if I know of any technology that can detect and analyze farts. Urine and stool sample analysis is no longer novel. Behold the future of point-of-care testing.

Thanks @rickygervais for making #AfterLife on Netflix. It's an amazing show that deals with really tough topics in a brilliant way. I think it can help a lot of people. I appreciate it.
