The 45% stake is only one layer of the Etango transaction. Bannerman appoints 3 of the 5 JV directors, while specified strategic decisions require unanimous approval. Ownership, governance and future uranium rights do not sit in the same proportions.
Etango is more than a US$320.4m financing story. Australia’s Bannerman Energy now shares the project JV with CNOL, a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Uranium Corporation within CNNC. CNOL owns 45% and has rights to 60% of future yellowcake output in Namibia. Our new Weekly: geopoliticalmining.com/banne…

CNOL’s 60% uranium right is also worth reading carefully. It covers actual lifetime yellowcake production on market based terms, while Bannerman will market the remaining 40%. The full form offtake agreement still has to be completed before production.

One detail in the Phalaborwa MOU is easy to miss: the NdPr would leave as a separated oxide, while the heavy rare earth carbonate would still need further processing. That difference matters when working out where costs and value sit.
