This is a great point! Online assessment tools not only make assessment easier for the teacher good ones can make the experience more accessible for the students.

Students especially don’t know anything about teaching because they have good teachers.
They don’t need to worry about the underlying processes of learning, it’s just this magical thing that happens while the teacher is engaging them.
This is late, but I just realized that the Will Smith incident is a great way of demonstrating how you can look at the same information with different lenses

A former VMS student (and one of mine) Som Gupta has been involved in 2 start-up companies. He came to visit me last week to pitch his current idea (which is an awesome education venture to be discussed later) and I immediately thought my students would love to hear his story.
Teachers,
You don’t need to get into the mind of a 6th grader to make content relevant to them. Make it relevant to yourself, and they’ll listen.

I'm all for data-based decision-making, but it isn't infallible.
It can value short-term gains over long-term gains. Is it better for a student to get A's in middle school or to develop a life-long passion for learning?

If it isn't going to make an educator's life easier, we should hold off on doing it.
1/ As a freshman at university, I see a lot of my peers want to start coding projects, but not have the confidence to do so.

This reminds me of a tweet @anafabrega11 made about pointsification. Teachers shouldn’t add technology elements wherever possible; they should only implement it meaningfully, just like teachers shouldn’t add points to any basic task.

But these tactics aren’t games.
They’re “pointsification”
Pointsification ties to external motivation—free time, tasty treats, or bragging rights. It’s taking the things that are least essential to games and making them the core of the experience.
1/ "That problem was clever." A simple, off-hand comment by my teacher completely changed the way I thought about physics.
11/ The sentence has a metaphor; it has a personality. At some point, someone, somewhere was sitting at their desk thinking: "this part of the cell produces energy, almost like a powerhouse."
And they found the imagery so fanciful, they wrote it down.
