I respectfully disagree. Recording ensures accuracy. It also allows you to actively listen to the person you're talking to. Being engaged in the conversation is much better than being too focused on note-taking. You could end up missing the real story.
Reporters (esp newer ones), please stop recording most* of your interviews. Using a recorder is time-consuming and leads to an overreliance on quotes in your writing. (*Exceptions include potentially adversarial interviews and those to run as Q&As.) #journalismtipoftheday

I cannot justify the use of a coupon that so grossly inserts a comma in the sentence “Here’s, 40 bucks.” I would need at least 50 bucks for that.
