Yes, it should be *more* than that. But it shouldn't be *less* than that. I really don't get some people who can clearly recognize the floor, but then treat it like the ceiling. There's an epidemic of that everywhere, especially in education.

Why should we vote? "Voting is more than a paper ballot on Election Day. Responsible stewardship begins long before we reach the polls." ~ @Lauren_Gideon

Self governance is a key attribute to a healthy society. Homeschooling is the best way to develop self governance.

When we vote we use our human responsibility and trust God's sovereignty knowing our vote (or lack thereof) will affect people's lives. There are no perfect candidates (or solutions) in a fallen world. There are tradeoffs.
Many Christians will disagree with me on this, but it’s important to talk about. Today, I’m sharing some controversial opinions about this election and other elections to come.

A good reminder when we talk about education. Individual ownership and collective ownership answer the same question in different ways: who holds the decision, and who carries the responsibility? Both can be described in warm, reasonable terms. They cannot both be true at once for the same decision. Seeing the difference clearly helps families weigh what they are actually being asked to choose.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Do children need more hours in a government school and an end to summer?🌞 🤨Even some prominent REPUBLICANS have jumped on the bandwagon. @TheRobertBshow, CEO of @ClassicalConv, chimes in on the question: "Only 34% of them can even read...."

More school doesn't mean more education.

Hot take: homeschooling is exposing how much of “school” has nothing to do with education. Kids don’t need 7 hours in a building, hours of homework, and permission to use the bathroom to learn. Give them great books, real-world experiences, strong mentors, and time to actually think. For some families, homeschooling isn’t the alternative. It’s the upgrade.

Gall's Law: a complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.   You cannot design a functioning complex system from scratch. It must grow.   Centralized national curriculum is designed from scratch... by committees, for every child... everywhere, all at once.   Gall's Law predicts exactly what we observe: it doesn't work.   The family who builds their own educational tradition is doing what Gall's Law recommends: starting simple, staying responsive, and growing what works.

Why should we vote? "Staying home is 'burying the talent.' When we do not vote, we hand our responsibility to others. Not participating is an abdication of responsibility." ~ @Lauren_Gideon

The path to education autonomy is not through a UNESCO/ESA/voucher/School Choice initiative which is the beginning of bureaucratic lip-smacking for the regulatory capture of real, autonomous educators - homeschooling families. Empowerment to the people is not found in government programs, but the lack thereof. When the government says they want to “empower” you, they really mean to enslave you and empower themselves through regulation. Remember, “empowerment” is commonly used as a catchphrase by bureaucrats as a transfer of power and the fundamental principle at work is the assumption that the State is the grantor of rights, power, and privilege.

I know you’re afraid to homeschool because you might mess your kids up. But have you seen how low the bar is? You’ve got this 🤝
Most California students still can’t read or do math at grade level, per NYP Just 49% met state standards in English this year, and only 38% in math. Among low-income students, nearly 3 in 4 didn’t meet the math standard.
