Remembering Diana Dors (1931-1984). In 1955, she opened "El Toucan" coffee bar at 10 The Colonnade, Maidenhead, which became a popular meeting place for teenagers. The bar had a live Toucan bird in a cage in the window!

Back when "55p a portion" was considered "a little more expensive." Pie and Mash is a traditional working class meal that I love with all my heart. However, in the 1970s, the middle-upper classes tried their hand at creating a more 'upper crust' version in the wealthy area Knightsbridge. Desmond's Palais de Pies (which didn't last long) was Knightsbridge's attempt to sell a working-class work of art to a more affluent clientele. The first few clips hit me the hardest. Observe the charming people of a bygone age. It takes me back to when my Nan used to take me to Manze's in Walthamstow. ⏳️

This is, I think, the third time that a new railway station’s patronage has been double the predicted volume. Transport analysts: does this mean the current predictive model is broken? And wouldn’t that shift up the business case for other dismissed reopenings / new stations…?
