Why a Global Rally? Because older people must have equal voice and participation in drafting the new UN convention. Older people's rights must be respected. Join us from 1-7 February! #AgeWithRights #EqualVoicesEqualRights

Happy International Day of Older Persons! 🔵IPA recognizes the powerful role older adults play as drivers of progress and change. This year’s theme, “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-Being and Our Rights” aligns with our mission to empower this vital population. 🔵We celebrate their contributions to a more equitable and resilient world, from health advocacy to human rights. 🔵The day was established by the United Nations to acknowledge the rapid growth of the global aging population and to promote supportive, healthy environments for all. This aligns with our mission to ensure that older adults have the tools and support to maintain their functional capacity and participate fully in society. This day is a powerful reminder that with proper care and support, older persons can remain active, independent, and vital contributors to their communities. 🌐f.mtr.cool/wtyihqwnze

Ending the 2 child limit is the most cost effective way to get child poverty falling this parliament, and it’s also the right thing to do. As the government considers its approach to welfare, here’s what the latest research from @moreincommon_ shows: teapawt.net/katieschmuecker/status…
Replying to @KatieSchmuecker
The child poverty strategy is a moment to signal serious intent to tackle poverty and hardship. It must be complemented by halting the disability benefit cuts that will drive up poverty. They have been noticed and are unpopular (see bottom right quadrant)

We have carried out scrutiny on the Mental Health Bill to assess its compatability with international and domestic human rights standards. We are making a number of recommendations to help strengthen the Bill, which will be debated in the House of Commons today ⬇️

Really chuffed to win Journalist of the Year at the @scope Awards tonight. I used my remote acceptance speech to call for “accurate and dignified” coverage of the upcoming disability cuts. Congrats to my fellow disabled journo nominees - the industry needs more of you!

A lady moves into the #carehome, her room has been lovingly decorated for her arrival by family. She is wheeled in & smiles, pointing out her favourite picture, her family in the photo frames. These touches matter so much! Within 30 mins, she was also dressed in her own attire ☺️
