We’ve had enough. Words have meaning, Grace Tame. Calling testimonies of sexual violence perpetrated against Israeli women and men “propaganda” that has been “debunked” is an appalling dismissal of victims and their experiences. Coming from someone who has built her public platform advocating for survivors of sexual violence, it is especially disturbing.
You want “broader context”?
Try to understand the broader context of these nine testimonies from Israeli civilians who were kidnapped from their homes or from the Nova music festival on 7 October and held in Hamas captivity for between 51 and 738 days. They include young women, among them a 15-year-old girl who was kidnapped alongside her 8-year-old sister and held alone for 51 days.
That’s the context.

Anne-Marie’s killer Jonathan Bakewell breached parole 9 times, yet the SA Parole Board has taken the decision to release him; her sister Eileen’s calls for laws to keep criminals like this behind bars have fallen on deaf ears with the SA Labor Government. Why do relatives of victims have to fight for justice when they’ve already been through enough! They shouldn’t be the ones having to look out for us because the system doesn’t.

Why do family of victims have to fight to keep rapist murderers off our streets and protect us when the system should. Why do you have to wait until you have blood on your hands?

The Parole Board is rightly independent from Government, but that does not mean it is immune from scrutiny. There have been a number of decisions and procedural issues with Pitchfork’s case which have brought us to this point.
I think the public now deserves transparency.

Let’s hope the delivery of this is swift.

The Andrew’s government was so worried about the repercussions of the Bill to keep Denyer in prison, they voted against it. Well, here’s another repercussion. People jumping on their perceived leniency.
