Some days beauty hurts, some days it takes your breath away. If we stay with the things we're struggling with long enough, miracles happen. Every day ordinary miracles. We can't always love our lives, but we can live our love out in a life that feels hard to love...

journalist: I thought you’d be spooky…this is like interviewing SpongeBob. Thanks for having no delusions of grandeur.
me: All grandeur’s delusional. Unless you’re, like, a *tree*
him: SpongeBob slash Greta Thunberg. How’s the tour?
me: Delightful!
him: And SpongeBob is BACK

Fantastic set from Kristin Hersh last night. New songs sounded great. Guitar tone(s) glistened. Goldfish-in-a-pickle-jar anecdote was enhanced by the sound effect of an audience member knocking over their empty beer bottle at an accidentally appropriate moment. 🫙

Less than a week until submissions close. To quote the great Jack Micheline, share with us those "Poems hidden away in boxes / on sheets of brown paper / Poems of spirit and magic / workers hands..." The most beautiful things in the world are the things no one notices...

"And pain will be on every map just like north is, pain will be in every year just like August", it's what we do with the pain that matters. We sift and sort and chisel at the stone of our story until something in the dark of us shines through and true...
