This is how immigration should be. My maternal grandparents came thru Ellis Island in 1912, orderly, respectfully, by the rules. They came to start a new life in a great new country, to assimilate, not to create their own culture and get on the gravy train.

The peace God offers is not a fragile calm that comes from everything going our way. When your mind is anchored to God—who He is, what He has said, what He has promised—your emotions don’t have to control the narrative. God’s truth becomes the anchor that keeps you from sinking

Refining is painful. No one wants to be purified in fire. But God is an intentional Craftsman. The great Creator and Designer is forming you into the vessel He intends you to be. This design is most beautiful when it bears its Maker’s image, producing an internal work of beauty

God’s goodness is not limited to those who seem to have it together, to those who grew up in church, or those who are currently “on a spiritual high.” His goodness covers the confused, the angry, the wandering & the weak. It covers you on your worst as surely as on your best day.

Isaiah gives both a command and promise. He paints a picture of someone going the wrong way, suddenly realizing danger, and turning around to face the only One who can help. Scripture calls this repentance and faith: turning from sin and self, and looking to the Lord who saves.

Gratitude in Scripture is never rooted in how our week is going; it’s rooted in the unchanging character of God. Notice it doesn’t say “because your situation is good,” instead, “for He is good.” The focus shifts from your circumstances to the steady light of the Lord Himself.
