#ElvisHistory: November 7, 1956: Elvis Presley's song "Love Me" became the first-ever million-seller to land on the charts without being released as a standalone single; it appeared on a 45-RPM extended play (EP) record. It's my personal favorite. youtu.be/-CmDVkLE39A?si=h6Fa…

Elvis Presley adjusting his helmet next to a US Army vehicle during his Army service, with PRESLEY on his name tape. Elvis was inducted on March 24, 1958, at the height of his fame. He could have joined Special Services and spent two years entertaining the troops, but he chose to serve as a regular soldier. After basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, he shipped out to West Germany in the fall of 1958 and was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division at Friedberg. It was a hard time for him. His mother Gladys died in August 1958, just before he left. In Germany he met Priscilla Beaulieu, and he was promoted to sergeant in early 1960. He was discharged on March 5, 1960, and went right back to work on Elvis Is Back! and G.I. Blues. 🎸 Elvis came home a sergeant and went straight back to the top of the charts. Which of his post-Army songs is your favorite? 🎸

Not the first time a jumpsuit stole the show at Madison Square Garden. Elvis played there in June 1972. Harry, thanks for bringing the jumpsuit back Friday night.⚡🤘
