This incredible moment in human history again.
The ouroboros.
I couldn’t have survived my snapshot of it alone.
It’s fucking terrifying but it’s better to know.
I’m trusting to fate and the universe.
Nature knows.
Thank you to all my unmet family.
We win.

Sam just gave more ammo to one of the conspiracy theories out there: That shortages in chips would lead to calls for the peasants to no longer have access to their own computers and would have to rent compute.
Sam is an PR nightmare.
I don’t subscribe to the above conspiracy theory because I believe in boom bust cycles in commodities which eventually take care of themselves.
🦔Sam Altman says it’s “quite terrible” for regular people to keep so much memory in their own computers. He told the Cheeky Pint podcast that home PCs only use their RAM about 5% of the time. In his view, the world’s limited supply of memory does more good in the cloud.
My Take
He said this the same day Intel blamed expensive memory for a drop in PC sales. My car stays parked for most of the day too, and I’m not selling it to rent one by the hour.
OpenAI earns its money when you rent its computers instead of using your own, so of course Altman wants the memory in his data centers. I think he worries about local AI more than he lets on, because people who run good models at home have less reason to pay for ChatGPT.

Sources put the odds of a major US strike on Iran before the midterms at 70%. A senator briefed on the plans called them "insane."
The packages are larger than March/April. Ground ops on Iranian islands are on the table. Iran has stated that, if hit again, expect waves of missiles/drones against energy infrastructure, ports, desalination plants, and more across the Gulf.
Even the best case now was my worst case six months ago.

The world is literally being looted by the ruling class and all the corrupt bottom feeders that support them. People better start thinking hard about what comes after because it's not going to be pretty.

Poland was running perfectly and had protected its citizens from the illegal migrant onslaught. So, naturally, the EU considered this a large enough threat to ... back a coup? There's really no getting along with such people.
🚨🇵🇱COUP UNDERWAY IN POLAND!
PM Donald Tusk has just sent police to storm Constitutional Tribunal building in Warsaw in the middle of the night.
Tusk waited until President Karol Nawrocki left the country before ordering the police takeover.
Nawrocki was halfway to Senegal when he abruptly turned his plane around and rushed back to Poland to confront the unfolding crisis.
The EU, which backs Donald Tusk, has STILL NOT issued a statement on this unprecedented crisis or condemned the attempted coup.

As a friendly reminder, Enron was downgraded after it declared bankruptcy (and nothing has been changed in the rating agencies' practices since then)

they aren't practicing to bury soldiers.
they're practicing to bury us.
BREAKING: The US Army is now training soldiers to dig mass battlefield graves for American troops for the first time since the Korean War, practicing the burial of 2,400 bodies in under 24 hours in open pits, per a US Army release.
Engineers, preventive medicine teams, chaplains and fatality management specialists excavated and filled burial trenches without damaging mock remains, so forensic teams could unearth and repatriate them after a conflict, simulating how to handle mass casualties as Trump's Iran war continues.
The Army said that for more than twenty years in Iraq and Afghanistan, US air superiority allowed remains to be flown home quickly, and that future conflicts may not have the same capabilities.

Something tells me we're going to war much sooner than the Midterms.
GM
When over 30 countries have told their citizens to start preparing for disaster and our government is planning to have no outside services for 90 days on our home bases and is now training the army how to dig mass graves it might be time to stock up a little.
Personally, if you have the room I would suggest more than 72 hours, but you have to start somewhere.

🇺🇸 Senator Chris Murphy says Trump is preparing to resume the war with IRAN after the midterms, and he's calling the alleged plan INSANE.
“I will just say this: their plan is insane.
It will lead to devastating escalation and the likely destruction of our committment to the RULE OF LAW.”
That statement while U.S. officials privately tell Middle Eastern allies to prepare for possible new strikes and Iranian retaliation.
Trump has apparently not made a final decision.
But with the election just days away, Washington is already preparing everyone for what's about to come.

🚨🇺🇸 AFTER 70+ YEARS, THE U.S. ARMY IS AGAIN PRACTICING HOW TO BURY THOUSANDS OF SOLDIERS IN A DAY
Army units are practicing mass temporary battlefield burials for a high-casualty war in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
A standard burial plot holds 100 casualties.
With eight bulldozers and four excavators, the Army says it could temporarily bury up to 2,400 fallen troops in 24 hours.
The goal is to preserve and identify remains when evacuation is impossible and combat is still raging.
The U.S. has not needed this capability on a large scale since the Korean War.
That is preparation for a very different kind of battlefield.
What exactly is the Pentagon preparing for?
A possible ground offensive?

They always tell us first.
Pentagon’s FORTRESS initiative: every major U.S. base must operate for 90 days with zero civilian power, water, fuel, food, or supply chains. Portable reactors, microgrids, and wartime medical/ammo stocks.
Meanwhile, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Netherlands, Japan, and others are telling citizens to stock food and water.
3-10 days is nowhere near enough. Match the military (90 days) or, better yet, aim for a year.
Civilians are last on the priority list. Prepare now so you’re among the helpful, not the needy.
