It costs a lot to provide a safe and affordable home to Ottawa's chronically homeless and vulnerable sector... It costs even more not to. #Ottawa #cdnpoli #endhomelessness #TOpoli #ottpoli #ottnews #onpoli #Youth #Ontario #ONyouth #homelessness #ON #Canada #Breaking #Barriers

Ontario knows $733 OW and $1,436 ODSP cannot pay rent. That is legislated poverty, not bad luck. If they will not fix it, litigate it. Charter s.7 and s.15. #LegislatedPoverty #ODSP ⚖️ #DougFord #Litigation #Housing #Canada #ODSP #OntarioWorks #Onpoli #HumanRights

Ottawa has 16,347 households on the waitlist and no housing crisis declaration. Seeing poverty and doing nothing is a choice. That choice belongs in court. #Ottawa #HousingCrisis #LegislatedPoverty #HumanRights #ottcity #marksutcliffe

To every lawyer, advocate and community builder watching ODSP, OW and homelessness: the evidence is public, the harm is documented, the governments admit they see it. File the case. Legislated poverty needs litigation. #LegislatedPoverty #LegislatedDestitution #Onpoli #Cdnpoli

Hamilton tried to clear encampments. On Oct 9 the Court of Appeal sent it back for a new Charter hearing. Governments can be challenged. Legislated poverty can be too. #LegislatedPoverty #HousingCrisis #Ontario #HumanRights #Hamilton #onpoli #Canada #cdnpoli

Carney, $204.20 CDB does not end disability poverty. Ottawa watches 85,000 homeless in Ontario and calls it a crisis, then does nothing. Litigation is the next step, not another announcement. #LegislatedPoverty #Cdnpoli #MarkCarney #HumanRights #CanadaDisabilityBenefit

Ford told disabled people to get off their A-S-S and start working. Carney gave them $204.20 and called it a benefit. $733. $1,436. $1,960 rent. This is not a mistake. This is legislated poverty, signed by both of you. #LegislatedPoverty #DougFord #MarkCarney #Ontario #Canada #Onpoli #cdnpolitics #cdnpoli #Toronto #Ottawa #Federal #Provincial #Disability #Housing #CanadaDisabilityBenefit #HumanRights #ODSP

A dog in Ontario cannot be left unsheltered by law. A human can be fined $10,000 and jailed 6 months for the same tent. Ford, Carney: explain that to a child in a food bank line. You cannot. No one can. #PAWS #LegislatedPoverty #Canada

We're failing people with disabilities Canadians with disabilities are fifty per cent more likely to experience poverty and twice as likely to experience food insecurity, yet hundreds of thousands are denied access to government supports that would improve their lives. lmtimes.ca/were-failing-peop…

Ford, Bill 60 cuts eviction notice to 7 days. Carney, food banks hit 2.35M visits, up 117% since 2019. One jails the poor faster. One watches them starve slower. Different parties, same cruelty. #Bill6 #HungerCount #DougFord #MarkCarney #Canada #Ontario #Onpoli #cdnpoli #Toronto #Ottawa

Ford, OW is $733, frozen since 2018. Carney, 18% of food bank clients have jobs. A frozen benefit and a working poor nation. You are not failing by accident. You are legislating poverty, together. #LegislatedPoverty #Ontario #Canada @MarkJCarney @fordnation #DougFord #MarkCarney

Bill 60 cut the non-payment eviction notice in Ontario from 14 days to 7. Rent guideline is 2.1% in 2026, but units built after Nov 15, 2018 have no cap at all. Faster evictions, no rent control. #Ontario #DougFord #Onpoli

Ford promised 1.5M homes by 2031. In 2025 Ontario hit 58% of its target, even after counting long-term care beds as homes. 2026 forecast: 64,700 starts. Target: 175,000. The promise is dead. #DougFord #Onpoli #HousingCrisis

Oct 21: Food Banks Canada counted 2.35M visits in March, up 117% since 2019. Ontario: 846,724 visits, up 149% since 2019. 1 in 3 is a child. This is not charity failing. This is policy working as designed. #HungerCount #Ontario #LegislatedPoverty

HungerCount, released Oct 21: 2.35M food bank visits in March 2026, up 117% since 2019. Ontario had 846,724 visits, up 149.3% since 2019, with 253,520 of them children. Ontario housing: in 2025 the province hit just 58% of its 150,000 target, 86,760 homes, even after counting long-term care beds and student housing as homes. On Oct 29 the Fall Economic Statement cut the 2027 forecast to 65,100 starts and put the deficit at $16.9B. In Ottawa, the Mission's Oct 19 Nanos poll puts housing and homelessness as the top issue for 38% of residents, and the Mission is over 100% capacity, mats in the chapel, chairs in the lounge. #DougFord @fordnation #ODSP #LegislatedPoverty #Onpoli #Ottawa #Ontario #Toronto #ToCity

Ottawa: 16,347 households on the waitlist. 664 families homeless, up from 377 in 2023. Average stay 327 days. Sutcliffe was re-elected anyway. Homelessness doubled, accountability vanished. #Ottawa #HousingCrisis #MarkSutcliffe

OW is $733 today. Frozen since 2018. Ottawa rent is $2,164. That is not a benefit, it is a sentence to homelessness. $733 does not rent a room, let alone a life. #DougFord @fordnation #OntarioWorks #ODSP #LegislatedPoverty #Onpoli #Ottawa #Ontario #Toronto #ToCity

Today ODSP lands: $1,436 max. Ottawa 1-bed rent is $1,960. That is $524 short before food, transit, or meds. Ford calls this indexed. I call it legislated poverty. #DougFord @fordnation #ODSP #LegislatedPoverty #Onpoli #Ottawa #Ontario #Toronto #ToCity

Ontario is the ONLY province that hasn't raised rates for singles since 2018 — a single OW recipient was $18,874 below the poverty line in 2024. Indexing OW would cost ~$335.5M — one-tenth of the $3B "taxpayer rebate" the province sent out. (ISAC)
