When my youngest daughter, Luna, was 6 years old, she jumped at the idea of driving an RV from Colorado to California to shelter a family who lost their home in the 2018 Camp Fire. In a lot of ways, I was just tagging along.
Seven years later — and after sheltering more than 300 families across the United States — here we are. She’s grown up doing this good work… and along the way, I guess I grew up a lot too.
See the latest chapter in our journey in the documentary film Humble River… it’s not over, premiering Oct. 15 in Denver.

A disaster can change a family’s life in a matter of minutes. Finding a safe place to stay shouldn’t become another crisis. EmergencyRV exists to help provide a safe, temporary place to stay while families navigate everything that comes after a disaster.
Our partnerships with the @FLSERT and the Florida State Emergency Response Teams have been an important part of making that possible during our response to Hurricane #Isaias in Florida.
The names, places and disasters may change. The mission doesn’t: when families need a safe place to stay, we show up.
Thanks Chris!!
We are BACK! On our way to the Panhandle of Florida tonight to send these units out to a family that needs it.
@EmergencyRv
The #FloridaStateGuard is helping us get EmergencyRVs where they need to go — to Florida families impacted by #HurricaneIsaias who are waiting for a safe place to stay.
Five RVs are being delivered to families today.
We’re grateful to the Florida State Guard for stepping up with the extra hands and wheels to help make it happen! 🇺🇸
After a massive oak tree crashed through Brittany’s home during Hurricane #Isaias, her family has been moving between hotels and Airbnbs, never quite knowing what the next stop would be.
On Monday, that changed by delivering an EmergencyRV, giving Brittany and her family a place to settle in together while they figure out what comes next.
We’re proud to do this work alongside @FLSERT , and we're also grateful to @chefjoseandres and @LTFund for their continued support.
Give at emergencyrv.org to support our work sheltering families and children impacted by natural disasters.
Mary and her veteran husband were trying to figure out what comes next after a massive tree came down on their home during Hurricane #Isaias. Her 21-year-old daughter was standing in the kitchen when the tree landed just above her. She was lucky to walk away unharmed, but their home wasn’t so lucky.
Yesterday, we delivered them an EmergencyRV through our partnership with @FLSERT — giving their family a safe place to stay while they focus on getting their home back.
They have a long road ahead, but they don’t have to figure out where they’re going to sleep tonight and that’s a good place to start.
Give at emergencyrv.org to support our work sheltering families.
Thank you, @GovRonDeSantis . We’re honored you called on us to support your mission to shelter Florida’s Hurricane #Isaias survivors. This is what we do best at @EmergencyRv .
Let’s do this!
Since Hurricane Isaias made landfall, we have been working to ensure that those affected by this storm have the assistance they need to get back on their feet. We are operating seven Multi-Agency Resource Centers where Floridians can learn about available assistance and get connected with recovery resources.
Thanks to our partnership with Emergency RV, we have started providing travel trailers to Floridians displaced by significant hurricane damage, so they have a safe place to live while they rebuild. We’re also committed to helping the first responders whose homes were impacted by the storm and still showed up to serve their communities. With funding from the Florida Sheriffs Association, we are providing these first responders with $5,000 each to show our gratitude.
Schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties have reopened and resumed normal operations. We’re grateful for the hard work of school teams, transportation crews, and all our partners who helped make them safe for students and staff.

Three EmergencyRVs were delivered in Florida yesterday.
We met with the families receiving them, and there were some really emotional moments—tears, hugs, and a lot of gratitude.
We’re so thankful to @FLSERT for helping make these deliveries possible and for giving us the opportunity to be there with these families.
🏠 Today, @GovRonDeSantis announced that the first travel trailers were awarded to Floridians displaced by Hurricane #Isaias, marking another step toward recovery for impacted families.

This morning, @GovRonDeSantis announced Florida’s partnership with EmergencyRV to provide RVs as temporary housing for families whose homes have been impacted by Hurricane #Isaias.
We’re grateful to the State of Florida and the Florida Division of Emergency Management for recognizing the importance of temporary housing and for partnering with EmergencyRV to help families begin their journey toward recovery.

“Thank you for choosing me.” Those were the words Mr. Irizarry said after we delivered his EmergencyRV.
Mr. Irizarry was living full-time in his RV in Florida when Hurricane Helene hit. Ten to twelve feet of water inundated his home, destroying the floors, bathroom, kitchen, and septic system. The electrical system failed, taking his heat and air conditioning with it. Then came the roof leaks and the mold.
Everything that makes a home livable was gone.
Through our partnership with Endeavors, we were connected with Mr. Irizarry, and I’m so glad we were.
Welcome home, Mr. Irizarry.
Thank you, Jeff, for showing up when we put out the call for help. You came through when we needed you, and we’re so grateful for your kindness and support.
Thanks for keeping EmergencyRV moving!
Here is Mr. Woike’s story through the eyes of his case manager at Endeavors, Alisha Linnus. Alisha not only helped connect Mr. Woike with us as he worked toward safety and stability, but also took the time to create and share this video to help tell his story. We are grateful to her for securing the funding that made it possible to transport the EmergencyRV to Mr. Woike.
If you’d like to help others on their journey to recovery after disaster, please consider supporting our work at emergencyrv.org
Video created by: Alisha Linnus, Endeavors
When Hurricane Helene roared through Florida, a tree fell right onto Mr. Woike’s RV, punching holes through the roof and floor and leaving him living in unsafe conditions.
At 75 years old, he shouldn’t have to live that way.
We were grateful to be able to deliver Mr. Woike a safe, fully equipped RV and honestly, seeing him and his dog settle into their new home was pretty special. Moments like that are why we do what we do.
A huge thank you to Alisha and our partners at Endeavors for connecting us with Mr. Woike and making sure he didn’t fall through the cracks. And thank you to The Hernando County Long-Term Recovery Group for helping cover the costs that made this delivery possible.
Andrea came to us with her beautiful Jayco motorhome and donated it in memory of her late husband Ken. She wanted his memory to live on in the most meaningful way she could think of - by giving a family who has lost everything somewhere safe home.
I cannot tell you how much that means to us. Not just the motorhome, but the love and the intention she poured into this decision. Andrea did not have to do this. She chose to. And that choice is going to change a family's life.
If you have an RV in good working order to donate, we will provide you with the full appraised value as a tax deduction and you will be helping a family impacted by disaster. We can match you up with a family or we will come pick it up for you.
Visit emergencyrv.org to start the donation process.
After Hurricane Helene hit, Mr. Kissinger did everything he could to get back on his feet. He used his FEMA assistance to fix up his own RV but when the time came to move it, the axle snapped. Completely rusted through from the floodwaters and completely immovable, leaving him without options if another evacuation were ever to come.
He found temporary shelter through FEMA housing, but anyone who has been through this knows that temporary is not the same as home. What Mr. Kissinger really needed was somewhere safe, permanent, and completely his own.
Welcome home Mr. Kissinger. This one is yours.
We have special people to thank for helping make this delivery happen: The Salvation Army, Endeavors, and our EmergencyRV hauler David Cheeseman.
Another delivery coming soon! Luna and I are excited about this one.
We are getting this RV down to Beulah, Colorado, the state we call home, to a couple who lost their home in the Aspen Acres fire. There is something extra special about showing up for a family right in your own state. Thank you all for following along on every delivery. Your support means everything to us!
